The Department of Safety and Homeland Security’s Oakland Driver Services Center, located at 160 Beau Tisdale Drive, which closed for a planned remodel on Aug. 29, will reopen to the public on Tuesday, Oct. 1. In the refurbished full-service center, visitors will see new furniture, fresh paint, updated workstations, new credentialing equipment and new self-service kiosks.

Beginning today, the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (TDOSHS) is issuing new Driver Licenses and ID cards with a fresh design and improved security features along with new self-service kiosks, which can reduce wait times at Driver Service Centers. The new credentials and kiosks will expand to all Driver Service Centers over the next few months.

On July 19, at approximately 7:47 p.m. while on patrol in Putnam County on I-40, mile marker 285, near the Burgess Falls exit, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Trooper Adam Cothron pulled a white Kia Forte over for a traffic violation. During the interaction with the two black males within the Kia, Trooper Cothron was shot. The two males then fled the scene and abandoned the Kia on Hwy 109 near Gallatin, TN.

For the American Association of State Troopers (AAST) 11th Annual America’s Best Looking Trooper Cruisers Contest, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) took photos inside the iconic Neyland Stadium, home of the Tennessee Volunteer Football Program. The photo features a 2023 THP Dodge Charger and Lieutenant Eric Miller, who serves in the Knoxville District.
