Public Records Request

Do I need to submit a public records request to the Tennessee Department of Revenue?

The Department of Revenue is only able to provide non-confidential records specific to this agency, which administers and collects state taxes and works with Tennessee’s 95 county clerks to administer vehicle title and registration. The Department of Revenue is unable to facilitate public records requests appropriately addressed to other state agencies. If you have a request for records associated with a different state agency, please submit a public records request to that agency.

Did you know a public records request is not required to obtain copies of your own taxpayer records or motor vehicle records?

To request copies of your own tax records, please contact the Department’s Taxpayer Services division at (615) 253-0600 or revenue.support@tn.gov. If you need to request copies of motor vehicle records, please click the button below for information about how to submit a vehicle information request.
