About this event

Embark on an extraordinary journey through the cosmos at our highly anticipated Stargazing event, taking place on May 18th, from 6 PM to 11 PM! Partnering with the esteemed University of Tennessee Physics Department, we invite you to join us for an evening of celestial exploration and wonder.

Delve into the mysteries of the night sky and immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring spectacle of the heavens above. With the possibility of sightings from both the Eta Aquarid and Lyrid meteor showers, there's a chance to witness nature's celestial fireworks firsthand. However, please note that sightings cannot be guaranteed.

As with any meteor shower, the experience is subject to nature's whims, much like the unpredictability of the weather. While we remain hopeful for a dazzling display, it's important to acknowledge that meteor events may vary, and we may experience a very low meteor activity.

Throughout the night, graduate students from the Physics Department will captivate us with enlightening talks covering a range of astronomical phenomena. From the cosmic dance of planets to the latest discoveries in astrophysics, there's something for everyone to marvel at.

Bring your own telescope, cozy lawn chair, or warm quilt, and prepare to be mesmerized by the wonders of the universe.

Admission

Admission to this unforgettable event is free, but please RSVP on Zeffy to let us know to expect you for an evening of cosmic exploration. Join us as we gaze upwards and ponder the mysteries of the cosmos together!
