Light Duty Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment

Request for Information (RFI)

NOTE: This RFI is not a solicitation for projects. Information obtained from this RFI will be used solely for planning purposes. Submitting a response to this RFI is voluntary and is not a prerequisite for responding to any future solicitations issued by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) with regard to the State’s allocation under the Volkswagen Diesel Settlement Environmental Mitigation Trust (VW Settlement EMT).

On November 1, 2019, TDEC issued a Request for Information (RFI) to solicit feedback to inform the program design for the forthcoming solicitation under the Light Duty Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Supply Equipment category.  Responses to this RFI were due by December 6, 2019. TDEC will conduct a comprehensive review and evaluation of all responses.

TDEC plans to leverage program design insights from several recent electric vehicle charging resources, including the Drive Electric Tennessee (DET) Statewide Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Needs Assessment and the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Charging Opportunity Map developed by the TDEC Office of Energy Programs (TDEC OEP). TDEC encouraged respondents to review these materials (below) when compiling feedback.

Statewide Electric Vehicle Charging Needs Assessment

On November 18, 2019, DET published the Statewide Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Needs Assessment to evaluate the condition of Tennessee’s current electric vehicle charging infrastructure as well as to identify where new chargers should be placed to promote electric vehicle adoption throughout the state.

On November 19, 2019, TDEC OEP released the first version of its Tennessee Electric Vehicle Charging Opportunity Map to demonstrate how the state’s primary corridors (interstates) and secondary corridors (select U.S. and State highways) connect cities and metropolitan areas with rural areas. The Map also highlights the location of Tennessee State Parks and counties that are designated by the Appalachian Regional Commission as economically Distressed or At-Risk. Another map that demonstrates the location of existing DC Fast Charging sites in Tennessee can be found below.
