Light Duty Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment

On August 26, 2021, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) released its first solicitation for projects under the VW Settlement Light Duty Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Supply Equipment Eligible Mitigation Action category (a.k.a., Light Duty Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment). Funding will support the development of the Fast Charge TN Network in partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority. More information on this solicitation is available at tn.gov/EVfastcharge.

Interested persons are advised to sign up for the TDEC VW Settlement email list here to be kept apprised of all future and related announcements. For additional information on the VW Settlement, visit the TDEC website here: http://www.tn.gov/environment/VWSettlement.

Background

On November 1, 2019, TDEC issued a Request for Information (RFI) to solicit feedback to inform the program design for the forthcoming solicitation under the Light Duty ZEV Supply Equipment category.  Responses to this RFI were due by December 6, 2019. This RFI was not a solicitation for projects. Information obtained from the RFI has been used solely for planning purposes. Submitting a response to this RFI was voluntary and will not be a prerequisite for responding to any future solicitations issued by TDEC with regard to the State’s allocation under the VW Settlement EMT.

TDEC has also leveraged program design insights from several recent electric vehicle charging resources, including the Drive Electric Tennessee Statewide Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Needs Assessment and the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Charging Opportunity Maps developed by the TDEC Office of Energy Programs (OEP). TDEC encouraged RFI respondents to review these materials when compiling feedback. Learn more about these resources on TDEC's Transportation Electrification in Tennessee webpage or tn.gov/EVfastcharge.
