NPDES Stormwater Multi Sector General Permit for Industrial Activities TNR050000

*** Important Update 12/16/2019***

The current Tennessee Stormwater Multi-Sector General Permit (TMSP) will expire in 2020.

Please check this webpage periodically in the spring of 2020 for updates regarding the new TMSP and when TDEC will be ready to receive updated NOIs for coverage:

If you DO NOT have coverage under the current TMSP:

Review the information on this page to confirm that you need coverage and submit the required documents as soon as possible. Point source stormwater discharges associated with industrial activity are not allowed without coverage under an NPDES Stormwater Permit from the Tennessee Division of Water Resources.

If you have coverage under the current TMSP (Expiration Date: April 14, 2020) and plan to maintain it in the next permit cycle:

Do not submit a Notice of Intent (NOI) for coverage under the new permit until the new permit is issued. We will reach out to all existing permittees with relevant information regarding the draft permit, public hearing(s), final permit issuance, and new NOI submittal. When necessary, permit modifications should be submitted as usual.

If you have coverage under the current TMSP but no longer need it:

Submit the appropriate documentation (e.g. No Exposure, Termination) immediately.

This is a general NPDES permit required for facilities that have significant industrial materials exposed to rainfall and resulting stormwater.

This permit was issued on: April 14, 2015 and expires on April 14, 2020
