The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), Division of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) will conduct an open house and public hearing on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, to receive comments on the Corrective Action/Risk Assessment (CARA) Plan for the TVA Cumberland Coal Fired Fossil Fuel Power Plant located near Cumberland City, TN. TDEC has completed its review of the submittal and found it to be acceptable.
TDEC will host an in-person open house and a hybrid public hearing on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Dover Town Hall, located at 625 Donelson Parkway, Dover, TN 37058. The informational open house will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Central), where the public can review and discuss the CARA Plan and other materials with TDEC and TVA representatives. The formal hearing will start at 6:30 p.m., during which TDEC will present the CARA Plan for the TVA Cumberland Coal Fired Fossil Fuel Plant and accept verbal public comments.
TDEC invites the public to review and submit comments on the CARA Plan at the hearing or anytime during the 45-day comment period ending on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Comments on the plan can be emailed to TDEC.CCR@tn.gov. Comments must be received by 4:30 p.m. Central on Friday, May 15, 2026, to assure consideration.
