This Hearing Is Postponed Until Further Notice
The Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC) Division of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) will be holding a public hearing to present and receive comments on the final draft of the 2035 Plan.
The 2035 Plan provides an overview of the current state of solid waste management in Tennessee, identifies emerging challenges and opportunities, and outlines objectives to improve system performance, increase waste diversion, promote sustainable materials management, and safeguard public health and the environment as a long-term strategic framework.
The 2035 Plan, developed by TDEC’s DSWM, establishes a strategic framework to support solid waste management systems across Tennessee for the 10-year planning period of 2025 through 2035, in accordance with the Solid Waste Management Act of 1991, which mandates that the state maintain a current plan addressing waste reduction goals, system capacity, and program effectiveness (TCA §68-211-601 et seq, 2024), and meets the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan (ISWMP) guidelines.
