Housing Inspections

In accordance with State rules and regulations, DDA Housing Inspectors complete life safety inspections for all homes utilizing DDA’s Supported Living, Semi-Independent Living, and Placement Services (Family Model) licenses for operation prior to occupancy. While the intention of these inspections is to assess for physical aspects of the home for safety during fire and other emergencies, these inspections include a look at HCBS compliance with physical location and accessibility. These and any other discoveries made with HCBS compliance are sent to the provider supports teams and/or MCO representatives for follow up.  

Preparing for a Housing Inspection

• Review and become familiar with the Home Inspection Checklist and use this tool as a guide when viewing the home prior to requesting a home inspection: Home Inspection Checklist for Supported Living and Semi-Independent Living
• Correct any deficiencies noted when walking through the home prior to requesting an inspection. Review and become familiar with the HCBS Settings Rule.

• Home Closure or Change to New Agency Form - please note this form should only be used if the home is no longer to be utilized for any residential services under DDA’s licenses or if the home is being transferred to another agency. If the home will still be used for CLS services, it is not considered “closed”.
