Project Safe Pathways (PSP)

Eligibility Requirements 

  • Children with an intellectual and/or developmental disability (I/DD)
  • Children who are in DCS custody or at risk of entering DCS custody due to behavioral challenges
  • Children identified by Vanderbilt Kennedy Center’s Treatment & Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorder (TRIAD) or the local school system as candidates for the program

Services Provided  

  • Wraparound behavioral services
  • Consultation and caregiver coaching
  • Direct support and individualized assistance
  • Behavioral intervention and problem-solving strategies
  • Collaboration with families, schools, and service providers
  • Support to promote placement stability and prevent unnecessary disruptions

How does the program work?

  • Children are identified through TRIAD or the local school system for participation.
  • The program provides individualized behavioral supports based on the child and family's unique needs.
  • Families receive consultation, coaching, and direct assistance to address barriers impacting stability and success.
  • Program staff collaborate with caregivers, schools, and community partners to implement effective supports.
  • Services focus on maintaining children in the least restrictive environment possible and preventing entry into or further involvement with the child welfare system when appropriate.
