I/DD Child Stabilization Program

Eligibility Requirements 

• Children and youth with a diagnosed or suspected intellectual and/or developmental disability (I/DD)
• Experiencing behavioral, emotional, medical, developmental, or environmental instability
• At risk of caregiver crisis, school disruption, or out-of-home placement
• Children do not need to be involved with DCS to qualify
• Children already in DCS custody are not eligible for this program

Services Provided  

• Assessment of child and family needs
• Resource identification and referrals
• Service coordination and system navigation
• Connection to community-based supports
• Caregiver guidance and support
• Planning to reduce safety risks and promote stability

How does the program work?

• A referral is submitted through the Child Stabilization Program referral form.
• Program staff review the referral and assess the child and family's needs.
• Families are connected with appropriate services, supports, and community resources.
• Staff work alongside caregivers to address barriers, improve stability, and prevent unnecessary child welfare involvement.
• Support is short-term and focused on connecting families to sustainable resources and services.
