Work Setting

This Administrative Services Assistant (ASA4) position will service all 95 counties in Tennessee. This position will be located in Davidson County and will report in person to the designated DCS office location in Nashville a minimum of four (4) days a week. This position will work standard business hours, Monday through Friday. This position does not perform on-call duties, work nights or weekends, and typically works little to no overtime. New hire training is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Training is paid. Training is conducted both in person and virtually. Duration of training depends on related work experience, learning speed, successfully meeting training milestones, etc.

Role & Responsibilities

The Non-Custodial Placement ASA4 position is part of the DCS Statewide Prevention Services, CABs & Resource Linkage Unit. This position is responsible for the management and oversight of the DCS Non-Custodial Prevention Services Program, which includes the provision of resource information to internal and external partners to assist with the coordination of non-custodial prevention services. The ASA4 serves as a liaison between DCS and TennCare for obtaining non-custodial services.

Among the responsibilities required of this position are: 

  • Assist with processes and procedures for applying for TennCare and TennCare Eligibility, and the process for filing TennCare appeals for non-custodial at-risk youth.
  • Assist with processes and procedures for obtaining non-custodial residential treatment for at-risk youth.
  • Manage the referral process for obtaining mental health services through TennCare, private insurance, and uninsured at-risk youth.
  • Partner with community mental health providers across the state to access resources for DCS Regional Operations staff.
  • Provide guidance and referrals to community support services.
  • Engage and consult with community partners and resources.
  • Participate in Child and Family Team Meetings when applicable.
  • Maintain contacts with each TennCare MCOs, the Bureau of TennCare in divisions of TennCare eligibility, and TennCare appeals.
  • Attend any designated DCS Statewide Prevention Services, DCS Regional Operations, or Community Resource meetings and events.
  • Additional Administrative Tasks (as designated by Program Director or Executive Leadership)
