Correctional Officer

The Tennessee Department of Correction is the largest law enforcement agency in the state. We operate 10 correctional facilities across Tennessee and are fully accredited by the American Correctional Association. Our mission is to operate safe and secure facilities and provide effective community supervision in support of successful reentry. TDOC correctional officers are tasked with maintaining the safety and security of the facilities and supervising the inmates in our custody. The work of a correctional officer has a direct impact on the rehabilitation of the inmates and the safety of our communities. As a correctional officer, you can make a difference.

The entry level salary for a correctional officer is $51,204 per year, with tiered increases bringing the correctional officer salaries to $60,720 after 18 months. Newly hired correctional officer applicants are eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus, payable over an 18-month period.
