April Bicycle Ride for Veterans Awareness

Veterans Advantage: Cycle Across Tennessee is a statewide bicycle ride that will raise awareness about the advantages of hiring veterans and the benefits they bring to the workplace. It will also highlight the state’s American Job Center system and the job services veterans can find at more than 100 locations in Tennessee.

The ride will begin at the American Job Center on Angelus Street in Memphis on Monday, April 4, 2022, and end at the American Job Center in Kingsport on Thursday, April 21, 2022. The cyclists will ride approximately 30 miles each day, starting and stopping their ride at an American Job Center or a local chamber of commerce office. It is a nearly 580-mile journey across the state. Each leg will start at 8 a.m. local time and end at approximately noon. A mobile American Job Center will lead the cyclists as they make their way across the state.

Along the route, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) Veteran Career Specialists will discuss veteran employment challenges and spotlight companies that hire transitioning veterans. At the start of each leg, TDLWD will host a hiring event that will spotlight the veteran-focused services available at American Job Center, veteran-friendly employers, and the benefits of veterans living and working in Tennessee’s rural communities.
