Replacing a Lost License

If you still have access to your DD number located on the front of your license you can order a replacement online. Unfortunately, if you do not have access to the DD number there is no way to verify who you are over the phone or on the Internet. You must visit a Driver Service Center to purchase a duplicate.

Replace a Temporary Driver License

If your temporary license or certificate for driving is lost, stolen or destroyed, you may obtain a duplicate in person at a Driver Services Center. To renew a Temporary Driver License Holders must provide the Acceptable Proof of Citizenship/Lawful Permanent Residency, Acceptable Proof of Tennessee Residency and documentation authorized their extended stay in the United States. 

Replace a Commercial Driver License

If your Commercial Driver License is lost, stolen or destroyed, you may obtain a duplicate in person at a Driver Services Center, you must provide a Medical Certification Card, Acceptable Proof of Tennessee Residency, Proof of Citizenship/Lawful Permanent Residency, and Required Documentation of any changes (other than those needed to correct clerical errors).
 

License Replacement Fees

  • First Regular License Duplicate: $8
  • Subsequent Regular License Duplicates: $12
  • First Commercial Driver License Duplicate: $12
  • Subsequent Commercial Driver License Duplicates: $16 dollars

If your lost license will expire within the next 12 months, you may choose to renew the license rather than get a duplicate except for temporary licenses. If your license is set to expire in less than six (6) months, you must renew your license.
