FF273 Water Awareness
Overview
This course is designed to introduce responders to water rescue at the awareness level of response. The course is an informational only course with no hands on training; it is not intended to provide instruction in water rescue skills. To be able to participate in water rescues, participants should obtain training in operations and technician level training. Compliant with the awareness level, specified in NFPA 1670 Standard for Operations and Training for Technical Rescue Incidents, this class covers training requirements, pre-plan preparation, activation of the emergency response system, hazard assessment procedures, size-up, scene safety, use of the incident command system and risk benefit exploration in relation to water rescue.
