Labor and Workforce Development Podcasts

Welcome to State of the Workforce! Tennessee's robust economy has led to tremendous growth recently. Major corporations are moving or expanding across the state, creating tens of thousands of new jobs. The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development is reimagining workforce development to meet the needs of these businesses.

State of the Workforce -  Kofee Broz

In the June episode, we visit Kofee Broz, a coffee shop that is doing far more than serving drinks in Robertson County. Kofee Broz is creating opportunities by opening its doors to individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities, providing workforce experience, hands-on training, and valuable skills that prepare them for future employment.

Elecxus Ellis shares how her dream of opening a coffee shop began when she was just 10 years old. Guided by faith and a passion for helping others, Elecxus built Kofee Broz with a mission to “bridge the gap where coffee meets education.”

The conversation highlights how Kofee Broz is empowering people through meaningful work, building confidence, and creating an inclusive environment where employees can grow personally and professionally while serving their community.
