Free CLE Series for Tennessee Attorneys

A 4-part series designed for attorneys practicing workers' compensation law.

The Tennessee Bureau of Workers’ Compensation is offering up to four hours of continuing legal education (CLE) credits this Fall.

The judges of the Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims (CWCC) have created and will host four individual, virtual sessions live via Microsoft Teams on Wednesdays at 11:30 AM Central time (12:30 PM Eastern time) starting on October 15, 2025. 

Each session will last one hour. Attorneys are invited and encouraged to attend all four sessions. There is no cost to attend. The sessions will not be recorded, and CLE credit will be available only to those attending the full, live presentation.

  1. Is Your Intelligence Artificial?
    • Date: Wednesday, October 15, 2025 | Register for Webinar 1
    • Presenters: Chief Judge Kenneth Switzer, and Guest out-of-state Judge
    • Description: The artificial intelligence session will include discussion of ethics and rules of court when using artificial intelligence.  Also, where is this leading?
  2. Objection, Your Honor! - Evidentiary Issues in the Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims
    • Date: Wednesday, October 22, 2025 | Register for Webinar 2
    • Presenters: Judge Allen Phillips and Judge Robert Durham
    • Description: This program will focus on several common, and perhaps less common, evidentiary questions that arise in the hearing of contested workers’ compensation claims.
  3. So, You Want a Hearing?
    • Date: Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | Register for Webinar 3
    • Presenters: Judge Brian Addington and Judge Shaterra Marion
    • Description: New to workers’ compensation practice or just not sure of the court’s hearing process under the new workers’ compensation law.  This one-hour CLE, Hearings Before the Court of Worker’s Compensation Claims, will provide an explanation about the six major hearing types the court conducts and how best to represent your client during the hearings.  The course discusses show cause, status, scheduling, motion, expedited and compensation hearings.  It also discusses the different standards of proof for evidentiary hearings and some of the presumptions the statute provides.
  4. Motion Practice is Alive and Well

    • Presenters: Pamela Johnson and Judge Amber Luttrell
    • Description: Motion practice doesn’t have to be complicated. Learn the best practices for defending or opposing motions at every stage of litigation.
