Tennessee Teams Up with Lowe’s for Statewide Weather Radio Programming Event
Local Emergency Management Agencies to welcome community members on Tune It Tuesday.NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) is partnering with Lowe’s and local emergency management agencies for Tune It Tuesday, a statewide effort to program NOAA Weather Radios on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
The initiative aims to help Tennesseans better prepare for emergencies by ensuring their NOAA Weather Radios are correctly programmed to receive location-specific alerts. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time, participating county emergency
management personnel will be available at more than 20 Lowe’s locations to assist residents with programming new or existing NOAA Weather Radios and providing information on emergency alerts and preparedness resources.
“Weather radios are one of the most reliable ways to receive timely, life-saving information during severe weather or other emergencies, even if the power goes out or cell networks are down,” said TEMA Director Patrick C. Sheehan. “We’re thankful to Lowe’s for partnering with TEMA and our county emergency managers to make it easier for Tennesseans to ensure their radios are ready when they need them most.”
Each participating location will be giving away a limited number of NOAA Weather Radios for community members, courtesy of the Tennessee Valley Authority. Lowe’s locations will also have radios available for purchase. Additionally, TEMA will be providing batteries for residents with new or used weather radios at all participating sites, while supplies last.
“Lowe’s is committed to helping our communities prepare with key essentials ahead of any major storm season. Being able to use our stores and storm-tested associates to support this statewide preparedness effort is one of the many ways we help our communities before, during and after the storm,” said Lowe’s RVP, Shannon Tucker.
The Tune It Tuesday event is part of September’s Preparedness Month Campaign, the month-long effort to help Tennesseans get “Ready to Recover” from emergencies and disasters. This statewide initiative focuses on one of the most important preparedness tools - reliable, location-specific weather alerts.
