Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Earns International Awards for Public Safety Excellence

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (TDOSHS) has been recognized with two international awards and multiple regional honors in the 2025 American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) Awards Program. The recognition places Tennessee among the top public safety agencies across North America for innovation, service, and professionalism.

AAMVA’s annual awards celebrate excellence in motor vehicle and law enforcement agencies throughout the United States and Canada. This year’s program drew more than 400 submissions in 23 categories.

International Winners

  • Communications – Advertising: Safe Store Tennessee Campaign (PIO/THP)
  • Communications – Special Event: Mobile Unit Response to Hurricane Helene, which helped Tennesseans replace lost or damaged identification and driver licenses after the storm. (PIO/Driver Services)

Regional Winners

  • Communications – Publication:  New Driver License Brochure (PIO/Driver Services)
  • Service Award: 2023 Christmas Toy Drive (Driver Services)
  • Fraud Prevention Award: Director Melody Rampy, Quality Assurance Division (Driver Services)

Commissioner Jeff Long praised the dedication of the Department’s employees, highlighting the international recognition as proof of Tennessee’s leadership in public safety.

“These international awards show that Tennessee is not just keeping pace, but leading on the national stage,” said Commissioner Jeff Long. “Our employees deliver excellence for Tennesseans every day, whether it’s restoring vital identification after a natural disaster, protecting against fraud, or giving back to families during the holidays. I am proud of their professionalism, integrity, and heart for service.”

Founded in 1933, AAMVA supports motor vehicle and law enforcement agencies in achieving their missions of Safe Drivers, Safe Vehicles, Secure Identities, Saving Lives! Its awards program honors agencies and individuals who raise the bar in safety, customer service, and innovation.

“These honors belong to every member of our Department,” Long added. “When Tennesseans interact with our troopers, our Driver Services Centers, or our public safety campaigns, they can know they are being served by some of the best in the nation.”
