Tennessee Highway Patrol State Trooper Makes Traffic Stop and Discovers Meth

Texas Man Arrested for Felony Drug Charges and Also Felony Fugitive from Justice Warrant

NASHVILLE --- Trooper Joseph Williams of the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s (THP) East Bureau Cookeville District initiated a traffic stop that led to the discovery of approximately 1.2 grams of methamphetamine in resale bags, and other paraphernalia items. The trooper made the arrest of the Tennessee man on felony drug charges and also fugitive from justice out of Texas in White County, Tennessee on Saturday, January 9th.

Trooper Williams stopped a 1982 GMC pickup for a window tint violation on U.S. Hwy 70 near mile marker 10 in White County at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The vehicle was occupied by a male driver.

Further questioning of the driver raised the suspicions of the investigating trooper, he then requested and received consent to search the vehicle. The trooper then found in the vehicle approximately 1.2 grams of methamphetamine in resale bags, digital scales, and a fake energy drink which concealed a marijuana grinder and digital scales. The trooper also recovered two open bottles of liquor.

After a computer search of the driver was performed by THP dispatch Trooper Williams was alerted that the driver Corry G. Marcum 39, of Sparta, Tennessee, was wanted on a fugitive from justice warrant out of Texas for felony probation violation for domestic assault with strangulation. Trooper Williams arrested and charged Marcum with felony possession of schedule II drugs with the intent to sell and deliver. Marcum was also charged with window tint, open container, possession of drug paraphernalia, and fugitive from justice.

Trooper Williams transported Marcum to the White County Sheriff’s Department for booking, where he is currently awaiting extradition back to Texas after he faces his Tennessee charges.
