Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security Announce New Driver Services Center in Dyer Co.

NASHVILLE---The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will open a new full-service driver services center in Dyer County on Monday, January 27.  The center, located at 180 Highway 51 Bypass in Dyersburg, will operate during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (CDT) Monday through Friday.

“This newly constructed facility allows us to better serve the growing needs of the citizens of Dyer County and west Tennessee,” Commissioner Bill Gibbons said. “We hope the creation of this center will help alleviate the wait times in nearby counties and significantly enhance the experience of our customers.” 

The new Dyer County center is 5,995 square feet and will offer full driver services, including the issuance of original, renewal and duplicate driver licenses and identification cards, road skills tests and handle handgun carry permit applications. Road test appointments will begin on Monday, February 3, 2014.

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) road testing and reinstatement services will not be provided at the Dyer County facility.

Citizens may also utilize the other full-service driver services centers in Gibson, Henry, Obion, Tipton and   Weakly Counties. Another option for customers is to renew their driver’s licenses online at www.tn.gov

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security’s mission is (TN.Gov/safety) to ensure the safety and general welfare of the public.  The department encompasses the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Office of Homeland Security and Driver License Services. General areas of responsibility include law enforcement, safety education, motorist services and terrorism prevention.
