Tennessee State Trooper Arrests Two on Drug Charges, Find Large Quantity of Prescription Drugs

NASHVILLE --- A Tennessee state trooper arrested two women this week on drug charges after discovering a large quantity of prescription drugs during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 75 in Loudon County.

Trooper Colby Huff on late Wednesday observed two unrestrained occupants driving on I-75 inside a 2001 Dodge Stratus with a broken taillight.  Trooper Huff initiated a traffic stop and while speaking to the driver, Brenda L. Hayworth, 49, of Murfreesboro, and passenger Sunny C. Manis, 36, of Sevierville, observed several indicators of possible illegal activity.  The driver gave consent to search the vehicle, at which time, Trooper Huff discovered the prescription drugs.

Trooper Huff arrested both women and transported them to the Loudon County Jail. Hayworth was charged with driving under the influence by drugs, simple possession of schedule II drugs, simple possession of schedule IV drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Manis was charged with allowing driving under the influence, possession of schedule II drugs for resale, possession of schedule IV drugs for resale, and possession of legend drugs for resale.

The trooper seized the following prescription drugs on the scene: 34 Oxycodone, 52 Hydrocodone, 37 Clonazepam, and 62 legend drugs.
