LEBANON, Tenn. - Christopher DeStefanis, 69, pleaded “no contest” to one count of attempted tax evasion in a Wilson County Criminal Court last week. Judge Brody Kane sentenced DeStefanis to 11 months and 29 days probation for attempted tax evasion. A restitution hearing was set for a later date.

ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the indictment and arrest of Leon Potts, in Ashland City. Revenue special agents arrested Potts, age 85, at his residence. Bond was set at $1,000.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to Todd Wilson Culpepper pleading guilty to one felony count of use tax evasion Culpepper, a certified public accountant, paid $9,170 in restitution to the Department of Revenue. He was sentenced to a one-year probation.

HUNTSVILLE, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the indictment and arrest of Christopher Sean Terry for tax evasion. Revenue special agents arrested Terry, 49, last week.

The Tennessee General Assembly is currently considering legislation (SB0775/HB0776) that would exempt certain COVID-19 relief payments received between March 1, 2020, and December 31, 2021, from the Tennessee excise tax.

NASHVILLE - The Department of Revenue is extending the filing and payment deadline for Hall income tax returns and, for certain taxpayers, the franchise and excise tax return from April 15, 2021 to May 17, 2021.

Knoxville, Tenn. - The Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the indictment and arrest of Michael Patrick Boyle, Jr., for tax evasion. Boyle, 52, was arrested on Monday by Revenue special agents.
