Office of the General Counsel
The Office of the General Counsel serves as the legal advisor to the Tennessee Department of Military, providing legal counsel to the Adjutant General and the Department's major components, including the Tennessee Army National Guard, Tennessee Air National Guard, Bureau of War Records, and Tennessee State Guard.
REQUESTING PUBLIC RECORDS:
Tennessee Public Records Act (TPRA):
The Tennessee Military Department is a state agency subject to the TPRA. TPRA provides Tennessee citizens with the right to access to public records related to the Department's official business, unless otherwise provided by state or federal law.
Tennessee citizens may submit a public records request pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 10-7-503, et seq., and the Department's Public Records Policy by emailing TNMilitary.OpenRecords@tn.gov. Proof of Tennessee citizenship is required when submitting a public records request.
