KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – During the afternoon of August 15, a medical flight crew from the Tennessee Army National Guard performed an emergency air evacuation mission for a hiker suffering a severe illness in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – From August 4-5, military policemen with the 117th Military Police Battalion competed in their 2nd annual Harper’s Ferry Competition at Catoosa’s Volunteer Training Site, in Georgia. MOBILE, Ala. – Members of the Tennessee National Guard’s 45th Civil Support Team participated in a multi-state exercise in Mobile, from June 11-16. Collaborating with CSTs from Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, the Tennessee team participated in comprehensive classroom training, informative briefings, and engaging hands-on exercises throughout the week. Notably, the 45th CST conducted a dynamic ropes training mission, simulating a medical rescue using advanced rappelling techniques and procedures.
SOFIA, Bulgaria – On the week of June 12-19, the Tennessee Army and Air National Guard collaborated with the Bulgarian Military Medical Academy in a series of events as part of Thracian Sentry 23.
GORNA MALINA, Bulgaria – On June 14, members of the Tennessee National Guard partnered with the Bulgarian Military’s Joint Forces Command to perform command and control of Soldiers, Airmen, equipment, and aircraft for Thracian Sentry 23.
PLOVDIV, Bulgaria – On June 13, firefighters from the 164th Airlift Wing out of Memphis, Tennessee, participated in an exercise called Falcon Responder with their Bulgarian Air Force counterparts at Graf Air Base just north of Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
SOFIA, Bulgaria – On June 11, approximately 70 Soldiers and Airmen from the Tennessee National Guard landed is Sofia, Bulgaria, to begin an international joint readiness exercise, Thracian Sentry 2023. More than 170 military personnel from the Bulgarian Armed Forces, the Hellenic Air Force in Greece, and the Tennessee Army and Air National Guard have partnered to develop and improve skills which include combat medical care, aircraft fire rescue, joint operations, logistics and sustainment, aeromedical evacuation, and weapons training.
SMYRNA, Tenn.— The Tennessee National Guard launched the pilot program of GRIT, Guard Readiness Improvement Training, at the Volunteer Training Site in Smyrna in May.
