There is nothing quite as breath-taking as sitting in an open door aircraft watching the ground fall away while vertically accelerating into the horizon at hundreds of feet per minute; the best way to explain it, is to experience it.

    LEXINGTON, Tenn. – In late August 2021, Hurricane Ida struck the Louisiana coastline causing significant wind damage and flooding in the surrounding area. Less than 24 hours later, over 320 Tennessee Guardsmen convoyed south to support relief operations in the impacted areas. Of the 320 Soldiers, 80 were military police from Lexington’s 251st Military Police Company.

    There are events throughout history that evoke powerful emotions: Pearl Harbor, President Kennedy’s assassination, the loss of Space Shuttle Columbia, and September 11, 2001. On that September morning in 2001, America watched in disbelief as terrorists destroyed the World Trade Center and attacked the Pentagon. The image of two passenger airliners slamming into the iconic New York City landmarks became seared into our collective memory. The deliberate brutality grounded air traffic across the country – with one exception.

    WAVERLY, Tenn. – More than 80 Soldiers and Airmen from the Tennessee National Guard are supporting recovery operations in Humphreys County following severe flooding this past weekend. Guardsmen are working with state, county, and local emergency personnel by assisting with traffic control, security, supply distribution, and cleanup operations in the impacted area.
