Commander, 230th Sustainment Brigade

Colonel Travis McKnight is the Commander of the 230th Sustainment Brigade headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee. 

Colonel McKnight enlisted in the Tennessee Army National Guard in November 1992, serving as a Water Treatment Specialist with the 251st S&S Company in Lewisburg, TN. He completed Officer Candidate School in 1996 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, Field Artillery in April of 1997. Colonel McKnight has served in various staff and leadership assignments within the Tennessee Army National Guard. His previous assignments include, Fire Direction Officer - B Battery 1/115th Field Artillery (FA), Ammunition Officer - C Battery 1/115th FA, Detachment Commander- Det. 1 C Battery 1/115th FA,  S-2 - HHSB 1/115th FA,  Commander - B Battery 1/115th FA, Commander - B Battery 1/181 FA, Teach Assess and Counsel Officer (TAC) OCS  -117th Regional Training Institute (RTI), S-1 - HHT Regimental Fire Squadron (RFS), Training Officer and Assistant S-3 - HHT RFS, Administrative Officer and S3 -  HHT Regimental Support Squadron,  Surface Maintenance Manager/Division Maintenance Chief - JFHQ, AGR Manager - JFHQ, Executive Officer for the Chief of Staff - JFHQ, Commander of the  176 CSSB – 230th SUS BDE, and Deputy G4.

Colonel McKnight is a graduate of Cumberland University where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. He holds a Masters of Arts in Education from Cumberland University and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the Unites States Army War College.

Colonel McKnight's military education includes Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Transportation Basic Officer Course, Support Operations Course, and Command and General Staff Officer College.

Colonel McKnight’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal x 3, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Badge, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters (BOLC), National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/M Device Silver Hourglass and Numeral 2, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral 2, and NATO Medal.

Colonel McKnight has deployed in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom (2005-2006) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2009-2010).

Colonel McKnight is the 230th Sustainment Brigade Commander, works full time at Joint Forces Headquarters where he serves as the Deputy USPFO and he volunteers as an Assistant Football Coach at Columbia Academy in Columbia, TN. Colonel McKnight is the son of Colonel (Ret) Larry and Mrs. Dianne McKnight.  He has been married to his wife Jamie for 24 years and they have two sons, Hunter (20) and Cutler (14).
