Mosquito-borne Diseases – Domestic

West Nile Virus, La Crosse Encephalitis, St. Louis Encephalitis, Eastern Equine Encephalitis are all viruses transmitted by mosquitoes in the United States and Tennessee. These diseases can cause flu-like symptoms but can also cause symptoms like brain swelling and meningitis. There are no vaccines or treatments for these diseases. Preventing mosquito bites is the best way to reduce risk of being infected with these diseases.
