Fall Day of Caring at Warriors' Path State Park November 8
Darrell’s Dream Boundless Playground at Warriors’ Path State Park will be closed Saturday, Nov. 8 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. for the 18th Annual Fall Day of Caring/Day of Service volunteer cleanup at the park.
The event is organized by the Friends of Warriors’ Path State Park in partnership with Tennessee State Parks and several community groups. The park will remain open to visitors on Nov. 8, but access to the playground will be restricted during the cleanup.
In case of rain or cold temperatures, the event will be Saturday, Nov. 15. Volunteers can refer to the Warriors’ Path State Park Facebook page or Friends of Warriors’ Path State Park Facebook page for any event updates or schedule changes.
“We are grateful to all the volunteers and community support for this semi-annual event,” said Park Manager Chris Cole. “We have something special in this playground, and we want to always give park visitors the most enjoyable time possible. We’re proud of the interest in keeping the playground in great condition.”
With the collaboration of local businesses and community groups, the day has been designated for several maintenance projects, including replenishing the rubber mulch in play areas, pressure washing the playground equipment, weeding the playground and rain gardens, restocking the sand island, and cleaning out the creek.
Organizers expressed thanks to the Kingsport Lions Club, Kiwanis Club of Kingsport, Chef’s Pizzeria, Walmart Super Centers and Mycroft Signs. Group organizers include The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Northeast Tennessee Master Gardeners; Dobyns-Bennett and West Ridge High School Key clubs; Cherokee High School and other area High School ROTCs, Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Achieves students from across the region; students from East Tennessee State and Northeast State Community College. Many of these groups have participated for the last 17 years.
