Andrew Combs

The average age of an autism diagnosis is just before 5 years old. By the time Andrew Combs learned he was on the Autism Spectrum, he’d already graduated high school and served in the U.S. Army. It wasn’t until he’d returned to civilian life and was looking for a new ADHD prescription that doctors suggested Andrew, then 27 years old, test for Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Tennessee native was motivated by the results, which he says helped make sense of the way he thought and acted – things that he was often told were wrong as a kid. Now studying Computer Aided Design Technology at TCAT, Andrew has the tools he needs to continue building a life he loves. He believes that every person with ASD is different, and every experience is different. There are no limits to his success and he hopes children and adults on the spectrum are not deterred by limits imposed by others.
