Five percent of the privilege tax collected from online sportsbooks licensed to do business in Tennessee is allocated to the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to support prevention, awareness and treatment of problem gambling as well as juvenile addiction and mental health disorders.

The Problem Gambling Prevention and Treatment Services Program provides an evidence-informed system of care to reduce the harm that might be caused by gambling. These efforts include awareness of problem and disordered gambling among at-risk individuals, their families, and the broader community in Tennessee.

The program identifies and assesses Tennesseans experiencing gambling-related issues, provides outpatient treatment when needed, and continually evaluates regional needs to guide outreach efforts.
