Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by germs that are spread from person to person through the air. TB usually affects the lungs, but it can also affect other parts of the body, such as the brain, the kidneys, or the spine.  A person with TB can die if they do not get treatment.

Tennessee Department of Health: Tuberculosis Elimination Program

The Division of Substance Abuse Services requires any entity that receives funds for operating a substance abuse direct prevention program and/or a substance abuse treatment program to follow established guidelines that will identify and prevent tuberculosis (TB) disease and TB Infection (TBI) among employees, volunteers, and service recipients in alcohol and drug prevention and treatment programs.
