ReadyTN Faith Program Launches to Strengthen Preparedness in Tennessee’s Houses of Worship
The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) is excited to announce the launch of ReadyTN Faith, a new statewide initiative designed to help houses of worship prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters.
“Houses of worship, synagogues, mosques, and temples are deeply rooted in our communities and neighborhoods and often among the first places people turn to in times of crisis,” said TEMA Director Patrick C. Sheehan. “The ReadyTN Faith program provides a frame to support congregations in building resilience and preparing to meet both immediate and long-term needs.”
ReadyTN Faith provides congregations with free, customizable tools, self-assessments, and practical guidance to strengthen safety planning, communication, and overall resilience. The program is designed to be flexible, allowing faith communities to build preparedness at their own pace while addressing the unique needs of their congregations.
Through the program, participating houses of worship can complete key preparedness steps focused on emergency planning, communication strategies, and continuity of operations. Once these steps are completed, congregations may be recognized as ReadyTN Faith Partners, demonstrating their commitment to proactive preparedness and community stewardship.
“ReadyTN Faith is available to houses of worship of all sizes and traditions across the state,” said TEMA Faith-Based Partnerships Manager Bethany Kelly. “The program emphasizes preparedness as a form of service, helping faith communities protect their congregations while remaining ready to support surrounding neighborhoods during times of crisis.”
Participation is voluntary and designed to be accessible, practical, and supportive. For more information about ReadyTN Faith and how to get involved, visit TEMA’s website.
