Tennessee Sends Additional Resources to Texas
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) has mobilized additional resources to Central Texas to aid ongoing response and recovery operations following catastrophic flooding across the state.
Early Monday, July 14, four support personnel, including three expert handlers, and three search dogs with Tennessee
Task Force 1 (TN-TF1) departed for Kerr County, Texas. These TN-TF1 members from the Memphis Fire Department will support the currently deployed TN-TF1 Canine Search Team-Human Remains Detection (CST-HRD) team that continues to assist local officials in search and rescue operations.
Over the weekend, Tennessee Task Force 2’s (TN-TF2) Type III Urban Search & Rescue (US&R) team deployed to Central Texas to support local agencies with various technical search and rescue assistance in impacted communities. The
credentialed team is comprised of personnel from Brentwood Fire Department, Franklin Fire Department, Hendersonville Fire Department, Nashville Fire Department, Nashville Department of Transportation & Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT), and Williamson County Emergency Management Agency. TN-TF2 deployed on Saturday, July 12, for an expected 14-day mission.
“Supporting Texas during this time reflects the true spirit of the Volunteer State, ready to help wherever and whenever
we’re needed,” said TEMA Director Patrick C. Sheehan. “I’m grateful to Tennessee’s first responders and emergency management professionals who are leaving their homes to provide resources, personnel, and expertise to support a swift and efficient response. “
TEMA is coordinating Tennessee’s deployments through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), the nation’s state-to-state mutual aid system. For additional information on EMAC and how sates help each other in times of
