Flash Report #2 Explosion in Hickman County

Highlights 

• The State Emergency Operations Center in Nashville is activated at a Level 4 – Elevated to support local requests associated with the explosion at Accurate Energetic System.

• Emergency Service Coordinators (ESCs) from TDOT, TDEC, TDH, THP, TN Department of Human Services, and more are monitoring the situation and assisting as local jurisdictions request resources.

Current Situation

As of 7 p.m. CT on October 10, 2025, there have been no updates regarding fatalities or injuries. 

A total of 18 local, state, and federal agencies are collaborating on the ongoing investigation and response. This coordinated effort is focused on ensuring public safety, supporting impacted families, and determining the cause of the incident. 

At the request of the Hickman and Humphreys emergency management agencies, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency has deployed District Coordinators and continues to fulfill requests to include five pallets of water, personnel, and communications support. TEMA is actively monitoring the situation.

As a reminder, there is no known continuing threat to public health or safety because of the explosion. 

On October 10, 2025, an explosion occurred at Accurate Energetic Systems in the Bucksnort area of Hickman County. This privately owned industrial facility processes, not manufactures, ammunition and explosives for various clients. The incident prompted an immediate response from local emergency services. 

Accurate Energetic Systems has established a Family Assistance Center to support families impacted by the incident. The center is intended to provide information, resources, and emotional support.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has established a hotline (1-800-TBI-FIND/1-800-824-3463) to coordinate reports of missing persons. Callers should be prepared to relay information. 

Tennessee Department of Health

The Tennessee Department of Health has not reported any fatalities or injuries. 

Tennessee Highway Patrol

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is assisting with law enforcement duties as needed.
