One year ago, Tropical Storm Helene brought historic flooding, powerful winds, and widespread power outages to Northeast Tennessee. The storm tested our communities in unimaginable ways, leaving lasting impacts on families, businesses, and local infrastructure.

In the face of tragedy, Tennesseans came together. First responders, law enforcement, road crews, and countless volunteers worked side by side to protect lives, reopen roads, and serve neighbors in need. State and local agencies coordinated around the clock, demonstrating the strength of Tennessee’s emergency response system.

Over the past year, Tennessee has made historic investments to support recovery and rebuild stronger. From removing more than 6 million cubic yards of debris, to providing over $42 million in recovery funding, to creating first-of-its-kind programs that ease the financial burden on communities, the state has taken unprecedented steps to help Northeast Tennessee move forward.

While much progress has been made, recovery continues and so does the resilience of the people of Tennessee.
