DISTRICT 27

 

CUMBERLAND COUNTY I-40 Resurfacing from near the parking area (MM 306.34) to east of Exit 311 (MM 311.12): The contractor is scheduled to begin installing construction signs during the week of April 1, 2019. Estimated project completion date is August 2019.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-101 (Peavine Road) Grading, drainage, and paving from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Boulevard: As grade work progresses, motorists should be alert for shifts in traffic patterns to allow for construction activities. The posted speed limit will be reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph within the work zone. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages may be needed to support ongoing work. Lane and/or road closures will be needed within Fairfield Glade to allow for the installation of a storm drain and relocation of utilities. If needed, alternate routes will be coordinated with the Glade and properly identified. Motorists should reduce speeds on Peavine Road and be alert for construction personnel/equipment entering and exiting the roadway.  Estimated project completion date is November 2020.

FENTRESS COUNTY SR-52, SR-154 and SR-297 Resurfacing (microsurfacing): The contractor is scheduled to be on site installing construction signs and removing center roadway marking. Intermittent lane closures will be used to facilitate this work. Motorists are encouraged to obey advanced warning signs and watch for construction equipment in the roadway. The roadway sections affected are as follows: SR-52 from east of SR-28 (US-127) to SR-296, SR-154 from north of Louvaine Rd. to the Pickett Co. L. and SR-297 from SR-154 to the Scott Co. L.  Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

FENTRESS AND OVERTON COUNTY SR-85 Emergency slide repairs at various locations: The roadway is closed from log mile 18.4 to log mile 22.4 in Overton county. The roadway will have multiple one lane conditions between LM 3.9 to LM 7.75 in Fentress County. The contractor will be onsite installing construction signs on SR-52 in Fentress County and on SR-85 in Fentress and Overton County. Work is scheduled to begin inside the existing lane closure at the beginning of April. The contractor will be onsite evaluating the project and hauling equipment in as necessary. Existing lane closures on SR-85 will remain in place. Estimated project completion date is November 2019.

JACKSON COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-262 (Gladdice Highway) in both directions from LM 8.6 to LM 8.9: SR-262 is reduced to one lane and signal controlled at the 8.8 log mile due to a slide and settlement.

PUTNAM COUNTY I-40 Interchange lighting at the junction of Mine Lick Creek Road (MM 283): The contractor will be performing daily shoulder closures on I-40 from MM 282 to MM 284 and on the I-40 Exit 283 ramps during this period to install light poles. Motorists should use caution and be alert to all construction signage while traveling through the work zone. Estimated project completion date is April 2019.

PUTNAM COUNTY I-40 near MM 296 Bridge repair on Rocky Point Road over I-40: Rocky Point Road bridge at LM 10.08 over I-40 will be closed due to bridge repairs and re-open in June 2019. A detour is in place to guide motorists around the bridge closure. The contractor will be performing lane closures on I-40 from MM 295 to MM 298 during this period. Lane closures will be performed between the hours of 8 PM and 6 AM in the westbound direction. Motorists are advised to use caution and be alert to all construction signage while traveling through the work zone.  Estimated project completion date is August 2019.

PUTNAM COUNTY SR-111 (LM 4.08) at I-40 (MM288) the Installation of signals on eastbound and westbound ramps in Cookeville, including grading, drainage and paving: The contractor will be installing conduit for the traffic signal systems along SR-111 Northbound and Southbound and along each of the I-40 ramps. This will result in temporary shoulder closures each day. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the work zone. Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

PUTNAM COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-40 westbound from MM 272.5 to MM 270.8: I-40 westbound will be reduced to one lane from approximately MM 272.5 to 270.8 between 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM on Thursday 03/28/19 for slide cleanup.

 

PUTNAM COUNTY Utility Work on SR-136 (N. Washington Avenue) in both directions from LM 4.3 to LM 5.4: Between Freeze Street and Bradley Street, work will take place involving the replacement of water/sewer services and relocation of a fire hydrant, between 4th & 6th Street. Signage, barrels, and cones will be present during this work. Motorists should use caution and be aware of flaggers from 01/17/19 to 04/30/19 between 9 AM and 3 AM.

 

DISTRICT 28

BLEDSOE COUNTY SR-101 Bridge repair over Bee Creek (LM 8.98): Work on this project is underway. For the safety of the traveling public, the bridge will be reduced to one 10 foot lane and controlled with temporary signals. On Thursday, March 28th, the contractor will be pouring phase one of the bridge decks. The road will be shut down for 15 minutes at a time while the concrete trucks are unloaded. Traffic will be released in between loads until the pour is completed. RESTRICTIONS: 10 foot lane. Estimated project completion date is September 2019.

COFFEE COUNTY I-24 Resurfacing from Bedford County (MM 96) to Noah Fork Creek (MM 101) including bridge deck repair: The contractor will continue to mill and pave the roadway surface each Monday thru Thursday between 7 PM and 6 AM each night. Starting Friday (03/29/19) at 7 PM thru Monday (04/01/19) at 6 AM, the contractor will be performing the bridge repairs. During this time frame the work process will be non-stop (24 hours a day). Motorists should use extreme caution. Law enforcement and safety personnel will be present.  Estimated project completion date is August 2019.

COFFEE COUNTY Utility Work on SR-2 (Hillsboro Highway) in both directions from LM 14.88 to LM 15.42: Removal of HDPE slip liner pipe & installation of cure-in-place pipe into existing clay sewer line will take place from Jackson Street to Clover Lane. This work will be done at night to reduce traffic disruption. Signage & barrels will be used from 03/31/19 to 04/01/19 between 6 PM and 5 AM.

 

FRANKLIN COUNTY Utility Work on SR-476 (Mansford Road) eastbound from LM 3.3 to LM 3.6: There will be a westbound lane closure on the bridge over Tim Ford Lake for utility maintenance from 03/28/19 to 04/3/19 between 7 AM and 5 PM. An automated signal red-light will be used. Motorists should reduce speed, and be prepared to stop.

 

MARION COUNTY Rock fall mitigation on I-24 westbound at MM 136.2: Work is continuing at this time. During this reporting period the contractor is working to restore the roadway to its original alignment. The roadway will be reduced to one or two lanes during the finalization of project work. Expect lane closures during the nighttime for the completion work on the project from 7 PM until 6 AM. Motorists should use extreme caution. Law enforcement and safety personnel will be present.  Estimated project completion date is May 2019.

MARION COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-2 (US-HWY. 41) in both directions from LM 25.6: Slide repair work has the route reduced to one lane with traffic signals controlling alternating directions. RESTRICTIONS: SR-2 (US-41) both directions at LM 25.6 any wide load greater than 12 feet or long load greater than 53 feet is restricted on this section of roadway. Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

MARION COUNTY Utility Work on I-24 in both directions from MM 1.27 to MM 2.34: Hwy 28/Hwy 41 interchange, rolling road block eastbound and westbound on SR-28 & ramps for overhead utility work. Flaggers will be present, 2 passes at 15 minute internals on 03/28/19 between 9 AM and 10 AM.

 

MARION COUNTY SR-156 over Running Water Creek (LM 25.58) Bridge rehabilitation: SR-156 is reduced to one 10 foot lane across Running Water Creek Bridge and controlled with a temporary traffic signal while the bridge is repaired. Please use caution when traveling through this area. RESTRICTIONS: 10 foot lane Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

SEQUATCHIE COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-111 northbound from LM 1.1 to LM 10.6: Region 2 Bridge repair will be completing crack repairs on SR-111, Northbound lanes, from LM 1.1 to 10.06 from 9 AM to 3 PM on 03/28/19, 04/01/19, and 04/02/19. One lane will be closed to seal multiple cracks and repair the joints on multiple structures.

 

VAN BUREN COUNTY Utility Work on SR-30 (STATE HWY. 30) eastbound from LM 5.07 to LM 5.07: Installation of aerial and buried fiber cable will take place between Rocky River Rd. and Passons Ln. Signs and Flaggers will be used and work will be intermittent from 03/28/19 to 04/17/19 between 9 AM and 3 PM.

 

WARREN COUNTY SR-288 Construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Collins River (LM 4.97), including grading, drainage and paving: The bridge is currently reduced to one 10.5-foot lane to allow the contractor to construct the new bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: 10.5-foot max width Estimated project completion date is September 2019.

WARREN COUNTY SR-8 over Collins River (LM 8.14) Bridge Repair:   The bridge is currently reduced to one 11-ft. lane to allow the contractor to repair the existing bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: 11-ft max width. Estimated project completion date is August 2019.

BRADLEY COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-75 in both directions at MM 33: There will be a left lane closure at Exit 33 in both directions on 03/28/19 and 03/29/19 from 9 AM to 12 PM.

BRADLEY COUNTY US-64BP (US-74, SR-311) Resurfacing from east of Goldstar Drive (LM 3.08) to east of McGrady Drive (LM 5.00), including bridge deck repair: Starting on Wednesday 04/03/19, there will be nightly lane closures from 8 PM to 6 AM, Monday thru Thursday night as the contractor starts milling and paving the roadway. Estimated project completion date is May 2019.

BRADLEY AND MCMINN COUNTY SR-306 Miscellaneous safety improvements from SR-60 (LM 0) to the Meigs County line (LM 8.58), and on SR-307 from Burnett Road (LM 2.18) to Old Mount Harmony Road (LM 6.07): Starting on Thursday of this reporting period, the contractor will have intermittent lane closures on SR-307 in McMinn County from LM 2.18 to LM 6.07. The motoring public is asked to be aware of this and drive carefully through the work zone. Estimated project completion date is July 2019.

Line (LM 0.00) to Quill Dr. (LM 5.27); US-11 (SR-2) (McMinn Co.) miscellaneous safety improvements from Sanford Rd. (LM 4.05) to Chapel Rd. (LM 12.32): Work on this project is underway. The contractor will work in Bradley County on SR-312 during this report period. There will be intermittent lane closures. Flaggers will assist with traffic control. Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction: Survey parties and geotechnical crews will be on site at various locations. Shoulders may be closed at various locations between 9 AM and 3 PM.

HAMILTON COUNTY US-27 (I-124) Widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge:  Work on this project continues with activities occurring on the west side of southbound US-27. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and leaving the area along the access ramps for east and westbound M. L. King Boulevard. The 12th Street tie-in ramp to US-27 South and the southbound ramp from W. Main St.to southbound US-27 have been temporarily closed until further notice. On Thursday evening 03/28/19  from  7PM to 6AM a right lane closure will be initiated on southbound Olgiati Bridge (US-27) for the staging of bridge beams. The two right lanes will be closed down to W. 4th St. and from there switch to a single right lane closure. The southbound Exits 1A and 1B to M. L. King Blvd. will be temporarily closed. Detours will be posted.  Additionally, on Thursday night 03/28/19 through Saturday night 03/30/19 from  7PM – 6AM each evening M.L. King Blvd. will be temporarily closed between the westbound M.L. King on ramp to US-27 northbound and the eastbound M.L. King on ramp to US-27 southbound for the installation of two storm drainage crossings. Also during these time periods, the southbound US-27 off ramp to eastbound M.L. King Blvd., the westbound M.L. King on ramp to southbound US-27 and the eastbound M.L. King Blvd. on ramp to northbound US-27 will be temporarily closed. Weather permitting, the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7PM and 6AM. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27.  During all temporary closures, detours will be posted.  Motorists should pay close attention to the detour signage posted and obey all posted speed limits.

HAMILTON COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-319 (Dupont Parkway) in both directions from LM 2.1 to LM 2.5: From 04/1/19 to 04/2/19 there will be bridge inspection work between 9 AM and 4 PM.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-317 (Apison Pike) eastbound from LM 5.48 to LM 5.53: A single lane closure will take place between Old Lee Hwy and Pattentown Rd. Signage & barrels will be used. Motorists should reduce speed and be aware of personnel & equipment from 03/28/19 to 04/12/19 between 9 AM and 3 PM.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-321 (Ooltewah-Ringgold Road) northbound from LM 6.45 to LM 6.45: Lane closure between State St and Action Ave. Flaggers, signage and barrels will be present. Motorists should seek alternate route if possible. Total completion of the job will take approximately 2-3 days. From 03/28/19 to 04/05/19 between 9 AM and 3 PM.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY Cleaning of the McCallie Tunnel on US-11 (US-64, SR-2), the Stringers Ridge Tunnel on US-127 (SR-8), and the Bachman Tubes on US-41 (US-76, SR-8): The McCallie tunnel is scheduled to be cleaned Wednesday, 03/27/19 (8 PM -6 AM) under a flagging operation. The Stringers Ridge tunnel will be cleaned that same night under a signed detour traffic control operation. On Thursday, 03/28/19 (8 PM to 6 AM) the Bachman tubes will be cleaned under a signed detour operation.  Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-111 (LM 1.5) Replacement of a collapsed 42" corrugated metal pipe, including grading, drainage, and paving: During this report period, the contractor will be performing resurfacing operations. Beginning first week of April, the contractor will be milling and paving both directions of SR-111. All work will occur between 7 AM and 5:30 PM. At least one lane shall remain during resurfacing operations. Also during this report period, the contractor may have intermittent lane restrictions while performing repairs. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is April 2019.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-58 Miscellaneous safety improvements at the intersection of SR-312 (Birchwood Pike) (LM 15.70): Contractor will be completing various safety improvements at the intersection of SR-58 & Birchwood Pike Monday thru Saturday between 5 AM and 6 PM. No southbound traffic restrictions will be allowed between 5 AM and 9 AM. No northbound traffic restrictions will be allowed between 3 PM and 6 PM. HAMILTON COUNTY US-11/64 SR-2 (Brainerd Rd./Lee Hwy.) Resurfacing from east of Moore Road (LM 13.85) to east of Airport Road (LM 15.84): During this report period, the contractor may have intermittent lane restrictions for signal loop installation. This operation will take place Monday thru Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM. This work may affect either direction of SR-2 (Brainerd Road/Lee Highway) and between Moore Rd & Airport Rd. MCMINN COUNTY SR-30, Grading, drainage and paving on SR-30 from Jackson Street to east of Knight Road in Athens: All traffic has been shifted into its phase two configuration. This will involve traffic using the newly built east bound portion of SR-30. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction with turning lanes provided at critical intersections and business accesses.  Estimated project completion date is April 2020.

MCMINN COUNTY I-75 Resurfacing from north of County Road 267 (MM 55) to the Monroe County line (MM 60): During this reporting period, the contractor will have the right lane closed starting in the Northbound lanes and then the Southbound lanes. The contractor will be working Thursday thru Friday, and Sunday thru Wednesday from 7 PM to 6 AM, weather permitting. THP will be on site to assist with traffic control. Estimated project completion date is August 2019.

RHEA COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-68 (Wassom Memorial Highway) in both directions at LM 5.5: The roadway is reduced to one lane and signalized 24/7 due to a roadway settlement.

RHEA COUNTY SR-30 Miscellaneous safety improvements from near SR-443 (LM 4.1) to Maple Creek Drive (LM 7.75): There will be shoulder closures and possible temporary lane closures to support the installation of sign, guardrail, etc. between Monday and Friday from 6 AM to 8 PM.  Estimated project completion date is July 2019.

REGION WIDE

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance drainage work: There will be possible short-term lane and shoulder closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to clean rock and debris from ditches on an as-needed basis. One lane will be maintained at all times.

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance pothole repair and pavement patching: There will be possible short-term emergency lane closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to repair potholes and patch pavement on an as-needed basis. Depending on location and severity these repairs may be done during the day or at night. In addition to performing the work, regional Operations crews will also provide traffic control.

REGION 2 On-call guardrail repair and new guardrail installation on various interstate and state routes: The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform guardrail repair. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly from 7 PM to 6 AM Sundays through Thursdays and daily on state routes. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times on the interstate, and flaggers will be present on state routes during any work that is performed.  Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

REGION 2 Preventative and unscheduled maintenance of Chattanooga SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System: The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform preventative or unscheduled maintenance to the local SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System. Work hours are 9 AM to 3:30 PM. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times. REGION 2 On-call cable barrier repair on various interstate and state routes: The contractor may have short term shoulder closures in order to perform cable rail repair. REGION 2 Sweeping and drain cleaning on various interstate and state routes: There will be mobile lane closures supporting a sweeping operation along regional interstates and highways through this reporting period. The sweeping activity will happen Sunday through Thursday (8 PM to 6 AM). Drain cleaning along SR-153 NB & SB (LM 0 to 6) and I-75 NB (LM 0 to 3) will continue Sunday through Thursday (8 PM to 6 AM). The drain cleaning activity will involve inside lane closures and some outside shoulder closures. Estimated project completion date is February 2020.

In 2016, the Tennessee Department of Transportation lost three workers in the line of duty. All three were struck by passing motorists.
