DISTRICT 27 

 

CLAY COUNTY SR-53 bridge repair over the Obey River (LM 8.89):   Contractor will be on site this week painting the steel structural members of the bridge. Shoulder closures and lane shifts/closures will be used to allow this work to occur. Motorists are encouraged to obey the posted speed limit and pay attention to construction signs. Estimated project completion date is August 2018.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY I-40 West near MM 326, construction of a truck climbing lane, including grading, drainage, construction of retaining walls and paving:   Night time lane closures will be required from 7 PM to 6 AM while the contractor is paving the westbound lanes from MM 327 to MM 325 (Sunday through Thursday). State trooper assistance will be requested. The right shoulder of I-40 will be closed for the duration of the project as grade work activities are in progress constructing the truck lane and outside shoulder.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-101 (Peavine Road) grading, drainage, and paving from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Boulevard:   Traffic control and erosion control measures are installed. Storm drain installation, box culvert construction, utility relocation, and grade work activities are in progress. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages may be needed to support grade work activities. Motorists should be alert for construction personnel and equipment along SR-101 Peavine Road. Estimated project completion date is November 2020.

OVERTON COUNTY SR-52 grading, drainage, signals and paving from near Oakley-Allons Road (LM 6.58) to SR-111 (LM 10.23):   Phase 2 paving will begin soon. Motorists should use caution and be alert to construction equipment and vehicles within the work zone. The speed limit has been reduced to 45 MPH and is being enforced. Estimated project completion date is July 2018.

OVERTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-111 (BRADFORD-HICKS DR.) northbound from LM 13.01 to LM 18.95:   Workers will be present between 7 AM and 5 PM on the northbound shoulder from Airport Road to Byrdstown Hwy./Byrdstown Hwy. from Bradford Hicks Drive to Monroe School Road for water line installations. OVERTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-52 (N. CHURCH ST.) both directions from LM 10.5 to LM 10.46:   Northbound and southbound lanes between East 4th Street and the intersection of Doak Street. Replacing 8" sewer with 10" sewer. Lane closure, road closure with detour. Northbound closure with barricades and detour signs at West 4th Street to North Spring Street. Southbound closure with barricades and detour signs at West 6th Street to North Spring Street. Work to occur between 8 AM and 3:30 PM. Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

PICKETT COUNTY safety improvements on US-127 (SR-28) from SR-295 (LM 3.37) to the KY state line (LM 7.04):   Contractor will be on site intermittingly this week performing miscellaneous safety improvements, including placing guardrail delineation and pavement markings. Motorists are encouraged to obey posted speed limit and be on the lookout for construction crews. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

PUTNAM COUNTY I-40 grading, drainage, construction of two concrete bulb-tee beam bridges, signals and paving at Mine Lick Creek Road (MM 283/LM 15.56) and construction of a State Industrial Access Road (Mine Lick Creek Road) serving Project Victor, including grading, drainage and paving:   The bridge at Exit 283 is currently open for Phase 1 traffic, allowing one lane of travel in each direction through the intersection of Hawkins Crawford/Mine Lick Creek Road. Phase 2 of the bridge and Tennessee Ave are currently closed with flexible drums and barricades. Motorists can expect temporary lane closures along Academy Rd. and Tennessee Ave. due to paving operations during daytime hours. Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control as needed. PUTNAM COUNTY Old Baxter Road bridge repair over I-40 (LM 2.89):   Work on this project continues. The Old Baxter Road Bridge over I-40 remains closed to traffic. The contractor will complete striping and bridge deck grooving on Old Baxter Road. Expect temporary lane closures on Old Baxter Road while the and striping takes place. The contractor will also be removing debris from the construction site and placing sod on the jobsite. Motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment and personnel.  Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

PUTNAM COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-40 both directions at MM 268:   Bridge Inspection will be inspecting a bridge. The right westbound lane will be closed. Intermittent lane closures will occur throughout the day with at least one lane in both directions remaining open at all times. Work is scheduled on 05/14/18 from 9 AM until 2 PM.

 

PUTNAM COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-40 both directions at MM 292:   Bridge Inspection will be inspecting a bridge. The right westbound lane and right eastbound lane will be closed. Intermittent lane closures will occur throughout the day with at least one lane in both directions remaining open at all times. Work is scheduled on 05/15/18 from 9 AM until 2 PM.

 

PUTNAM COUNTY SR-135 resurfacing from south of Jackson Street (LM 9.75) to north of SR-290 (LM 11.64):   The contractor is currently working to repair catch basins, ADA ramps, and address permanent pavement markings. The contractor will utilize temporary nighttime lane closures in one or both directions during this time. Pavement marking will utilize mobile operations to complete portions of work. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control.  Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

WHITE COUNTY US-70 (SR-26) intersection improvements at SR-111 in Sparta:   Work is scheduled to begin on this project this week. The contractor may begin installing construction signs and delivering construction equipment on site. COFFEE COUNTY US-41 (SR-2) resurfacing of Hillsboro Blvd. from east of Hendrixson Drive to the bridge over I-24:   Weather permitting the paving of the project will continue. Project work is scheduled for 7 PM until 6 AM Sunday nights thru Friday morning. During the work process the project will require lane closures each night. GRUNDY COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-24 westbound from MM 134 to MM 130:   Thursday, March 10th, westbound, 6 PM – 6 AM. Traffic will be reduced to 1 lane in order to repair a depression in the lane on the interstate.

 

GRUNDY COUNTY SR-56 bridge repair over Pepper Hollow Branch (LM 31.24):   Both lanes are open with occasional flagging as needed to complete the remaining items. Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

MARION COUNTY I-24 WB resurfacing from the Grundy County line (MM 127) to east of the bridge over Cave Cove Creek (MM 134):   Contractor will be on site intermittingly this week performing miscellaneous operations, including placing signs and re-positioning barrier rails on shoulders. The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform the necessary work. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly from 7PM to 6AM Sundays through Thursdays. MARION COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-422 (LONG ISLAND RD.) both directions from LM 0 to LM 2.4:   Thursday, March 10th through Wednesday, March 18th, eastbound and westbound, 7 AM – 3:30 PM. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in order to perform mowing.

 

VANBUREN COUNTY SR-111 grading, drainage, and paving from south of Manus Road to south of SR-285 near Double Bridge Road:   The contractor will be addressing punch list items during this report period, which will not affect traffic. Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

WARREN COUNTY SR-288 construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Collins River (LM 4.97), including grading, drainage and paving:   The bridge is currently reduced to one 12-ft. lane to allow the contractor to construct the new bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: One lane bridge. Lane width 12 feet.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 North Exit 1 interchange reconfiguration project at mile marker 1:   Work on this project continues. There is now only one exit ramp that allows drivers to turn both east and west on Ringgold Road at a signalized intersection. Traffic has been shifted onto the newly constructed portion of Camp Jordan Pkwy., and the intersection (I-75 NB off-ramp and SR-8/Camp Jordan Pkwy.) is now controlled by a traffic signal. Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY US-27 (I-124) widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge:   Work on this project continues. The contractor has closed the 12th Street tie-in ramp to US-27 South. This closure will be in place through 05/18. Traffic from 12th Street will be detoured to Carter Street and then to westbound MLK Blvd. where motorists may access the US-27 South on-ramp. Detours are posted. Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit has been reduced from 45 MPH to 35 MPH between Main Street and 4th Street on US-27 North. The speed limit on US-27 in the rest of the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Weather permitting, the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7 PM and 6 AM. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary. RESTRICTIONS: I-124 (US-27) Northbound Exit 1C 4th Street Off Ramp. No oversize/over-dimensional loads. HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-321 (OOLTEWAH-RINGGOLD RD.) northbound from LM 5.04 to LM 5.04:   Between Leyland Drive and Heathwood Drive, one lane will be closed with flaggers present. HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-58 northbound at LM 19.44 (500 ft. north of Sims Harris Rd.):   The contractor will implement a partial lane closure on weekdays from 9 AM to 2 PM to install valve, vault and by-pass on existing water main. Utility construction signs, flagger signs, cones and flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

MCMINN COUNTY SR-30, grading, drainage and paving on SR-30 from Jackson Street to east of Knight Road in Athens:   Work on this project continues. This project will upgrade SR-30 from a four-lane lane divided roadway to a five-lane urban-type roadway (two lanes in each direction with continuous center turn lane) and include curb, gutter and ADA-compliant sidewalks on both sides throughout the project area. The contractor has implemented the first phase traffic shift. The eastbound lanes are closed to traffic, and all traffic is using the existing westbound lanes, which have been marked and signed as a two-lane undivided highway from east of Jackson Street to east of Knight Road. Crossovers to businesses are reduced, but all businesses remain accessible. Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

MCMINN COUNTY I-75 resurfacing from south of SR-30 (MM 48.69/LM 13.75) to north of County Road 267 (MM 55.44/LM 20.50):   Work on this project has begun. This Sunday through Thursday, the contractor will be working on the underdrain and will have temporary lane closures on I-75 from Sunday through Thursday night from 7 PM-6 AM. There will be State Troopers on the project and the speed limit in the project area has been lowered to 60 MPH. Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

MCMINN COUNTY Utility Work on SR-39 (TELLICO ST.) eastbound from LM 14.55 to LM 9.46:   Eastbound lane from intersection of SR-33 and SR-39 to the intersection of SR-39 and County Road 461. Installing fiber on existing facilities. Flaggers present and flagger signage will be used for lane closure operations. Lane closure between 9 AM and 3 PM. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

POLK COUNTY SR-30 cross drain replacement between LM 2.65 and LM 8.0:   Beginning on Monday 05/07/18 and lasting through July 2018, TDOT crews will be removing and replacing 16 deteriorating cross drains ahead of a resurfacing project that is scheduled to begin in late summer/early fall 2018. The work will take place between 8 AM and 4:30 PM on weekdays and will require intermittent lane closures. Estimated project completion date is July 2018.

POLK COUNTY US-64 (SR-40) construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Branch and TOHA Old Line railroad (LM 24.85), including grading, drainage and paving:   There will be intermittent lane closures as the contractor works to cut the embankment for the retaining wall. Pinecrest Road intersection has been closed. There are posted detour signs for residents to get to their homes on Pinecrest Road. This road will be closed during the duration of the construction of the Retaining Wall on US64. During this operation, there will be temporary lane closure. The work should be from 10 AM to 4:30 PM. Estimated project completion date is May 2019.

POLK COUNTY US-64 (SR-40) resurfacing from west of the Ocoee River Recreation Area, Caney Creek take out (LM 13.00) to LM 17.00.:   The contractor will have a lane closed in either the Eastbound or westbound lanes as they start the pavement markings on this project. They will be doing this work Thursday and Friday of this Reporting period. There will be no lane closures on this project on May 14. The traveling public is advised to travel with caution during work hours on this project. There could be at least a 10 minute delay in traffic as traffic is stopped for the lane closures by the contractor. Estimated project completion date is July 2018.

RHEA COUNTY SR-68 slide repair at LM 5:   TDOT personnel and contract crews have begun work to repair a section of SR-68 near LM 5 in Rhea County that is currently closed due to a slide. The work is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete. The road will remain closed to through traffic as the repairs are underway. Estimated project completion date is May 2018.

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance drainage work:   There will be possible short-term lane and shoulder closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to clean rock and debris from ditches on an as-needed basis. One lane will be maintained at all times.

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance pothole repair and pavement patching:   There will be possible short-term emergency lane closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to repair potholes and patch pavement on an as-needed basis. This activity happens Sunday - Thursday (8PM - 6AM) thru this reporting period. Additionally, drain cleaning operations will be proceeding on area routes as follows: Thursday 5/11/18, I-75 SB MM 17-0; Sunday 5/13/18 thru Wednesday 5/15/18, I-75 SB MM 17-0. This will require inside lane closures for up to two miles stretches of interstate. This drain cleaning will be a continuous operation through the next few months until regional interstate and selected state routes are complete.  Estimated project completion date is February 2019.

REGION 2 random on-call spray thermoplastic pavement marking on various interstate and state routes:   Call-out work will continue on this project. The contractor will begin replacing pavement markings on I-24 and SR-319 in Hamilton County, US-72 (SR-27) in Marion County, and US-27 (SR-29) in Rhea County. This work will result in rolling lane closures and brief stoppages in traffic. Motorists should be aware of all construction equipment and personnel and be attentive to all construction signs. Estimated project completion date is June 2018.

REGION 2 the random on-call pavement marking and the retracing of pavement markings with spray thermoplastic on various Interstate and State Routes:   Work continues on this project. The contractor will be retracing existing striping in Bradley County at night. This will include, at a minimum, temporary lane closures on the following routes in Hamilton County: I-75, SR-2 (US-11), and SR-60. Mobile lane closures will be present at night on these routes. Motorists should be alert to all construction equipment and personnel and obey all construction signage and messages.  Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

RESTRICTIONS

FRANKLIN COUNTY - CNR044: bridge will be reduced to one 10.5’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice.

FRANKLIN COUNTY - CNQ930: The bridge is reduced to one 9’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice.

WARREN COUNTY - CNQ270: One lane bridge. Lane width 12 feet.

HAMILTON COUNTY - CNP230: I-124 (US-27) Northbound Exit 1C 4th Street Off Ramp. No oversize/over-dimensional loads. Width Limit is 11 feet.
