CLAY COUNTY SR-53 bridge repair over the Obey River (LM 8.89): Contractor may be onsite performing punch lists items as needed to complete project. Lane shifts and/or closures may be used to facilitate this work. Motorists are encouraged to watch for construction operations in the roadway. Estimated project completion date is October 2018. |
CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-101 (Peavine Road) grading, drainage, and paving from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Boulevard: As grade work progresses, motorists should be alert for shifts in traffic patterns to allow for construction activities. Current activities include paving activities, utility relocation, grade work, storm drain, base stone, and curb and gutter. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages may be needed to support ongoing work. Motorists should reduce speeds on Peavine Road and be alert for construction personnel and equipment entering and exiting the roadway. Estimated project completion date is November 2020. |
CUMBERLAND COUNTY US-127 (SR-28) from Plateau Road (LM 22.68) to the bridge over Clear Creek (LM 30.50) and SR-298 from north of Redmond Lane (LM 6.75) to south of Roy McCoy Road (LM 12.38) resurfacing (microsurfacing): Contractor will be completing punch list items and may require temporary lane closures. Estimated project completion date is October 2018. |
FENTRESS COUNTY SR-28 Construction of an acceleration lane (LM 21) and safety improvements near the Jamestown City limits (LM 20.78) to the Pickett County line (LM 33.58): Contractor has completed guardrail installation and is scheduled to be onsite 10/29/18 to complete installation of delineation on guardrail. Intermittent lane closures will be used and motorists are encouraged to obey posted speed limit and watch for construction equipment in roadway. Estimated project completion date is October 2018. |
FENTRESS COUNTY SR-52 resurfacing from east of the Obey River (LM 5.48) to west of SR-154 (LM 11.00): Contractor is scheduled to be performing paving and milling operations this week. Contractor will use flaggers and maintain one lane during construction. Motorists are encouraged to obey posted speed limit and watch for construction equipment in the roadway. RESTRICTIONS: Loads wider than 10' should seek alternate route. Estimated project completion date is November 2018. |
FENTRESS AND OVERTON COUNTY Resurfacing: SR-85 from west of SR-164 (LM 22.00) to west of Old Grimsley Road AND SR-164 from south of Roger Norrod Lane (LM 8.72) to SR-85 (LM 13.72): Contractor has completed paving operations. Contractor may be on site intermittently to complete work. Motorists are encouraged to obey posted speed limit and watch for construction equipment in roadway. Estimated project completion date is October 2018. |
JACKSON COUNTY SR-290 resurfacing from SR-53 (LM 0.00) to SR-56 (LM 10.60): This project is complete and the final inspection has been conducted. Intermittent lane closures may be used to allow contractor to address punchlist items. Estimated project completion date is October 2018. |
JACKSON COUNTY SR-56 Resurfacing from SR-53 (LM 10.94) to near bridge over Germany Branch (LM 17.75): Contractor has completed paving operations. Contractor will be on site performing miscellaneous work to complete project. Intermittent lane closures may be used to facilitate this work. Motorists should obey posted speed limit and watch for construction equipment in roadway. Estimated project completion date is November 2018. |
OVERTON COUNTY SR-52 grading, drainage, signals and paving from near Oakley-Allons Road (LM 6.58) to SR-111 (LM 10.23): Contractor will be on site to perform miscellaneous work as required to complete project. Shoulder closures may be used to accommodate this work. Motorists should obey speed limit and watch for construction equipment. Estimated project completion date is October 2018. |
PUTNAM COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-40 eastbound from MM 267.2 to MM 287: On Wednesday 10/31/18, TDOT Maintenance will be patching asphalt on I-40 eastbound as required between MM 267.2 and MM 287. This will require intermittent closures of one lane between 7 AM and 4 PM. |

PUTNAM COUNTY The resurfacing (microsurfacing) on US-70N (SR-24) from the Smith County line (LM 0.00) to east of Byers Road (LM 11.00): Contractor is currently microsurfacing and installing permanent pavement markings. Motorists should expect temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages during this time. Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limits when entering the work zone, and to be alert of all construction personnel, equipment and vehicles. Estimated project completion date is October 2018. |
PUTNAM COUNTY SR-62 resurfacing from east of Meadow Creek bridge (LM 5.28) to the Fentress County line (LM 10.40) and on SR-84 from the White County line (LM 0.00) to north of Henry Cemetery Road (LM 6.11): Contractor scheduled to perform paving operations this week. WHITE COUNTY The resurfacing on US-70 (SR-1) from LM 7.69 to LM 10.61; US-70 (SR-26) from LM 9.82 to LM 10.79; and SR-84 from US-70 (SR-1) LM 0.00 to LM 0.12: Contractor is currently resurfacing side roads and installing pavement markings throughout the project. Motorists should expect temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages during this time. Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limits when entering the work zone, and to be alert of all construction personnel, equipment and vehicles. COFFEE AND WARREN COUNTY SR-55 Resurfacing from north of Interstate Drive (LM 15.32) to north of Swan Road (LM 19.28): The contractor will be milling the existing surface and resurfacing when milling is completed. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution. There will be temporary lane closures in both directions. Work will take place during the day between the hours of 6:30AM and 7:30PM. Estimated project completion date is November 2018. |
FRANKLIN COUNTY SR-127 the construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over the Elk River (LM 6.21), including grading, drainage and paving: Work on this project continues. RESTRICTIONS: Bridge will be reduced to one 10.5’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice. Estimated project completion date is December 2018. |
FRANKLIN COUNTY SR-476 bridge repair over the Elk River (LM 3.39) and Hurricane Creek (LM 7.40): Work continues on this project. The bridge is down to one lane and controlled with a traffic signal. RESTRICTIONS: The bridge is reduced to one 9’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice. Estimated project completion date is December 2018. |
FRANKLIN COUNTY US-64BR (SR-15) resurfacing from US-41A (SR-16) (LM 13.7) to west of Money Lane (LM 18.3): Progress work on this project will continue Monday thru Saturday 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM, weather permitting. The contractor may have lane closures in order to perform the necessary work. Motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment and workers. Safety personnel will be present. Estimated project completion date is November 2018. |
FRANKLIN AND MARION COUNTY SR-156 Resurfacing from the Marion County line (LM 0) to the Marion County line (LM 2.05), from the Franklin County line (LM 0) to west of Frank Bolton Road (LM 3.06): Work on this project will begin and continue daily 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM, weather permitting. The contractor may have lane closures in order to perform the necessary work. Motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment and workers. Safety personnel will be present. Estimated project completion date is November 2018. |
GRUNDY COUNTY TDOT Contractor on SR-50 both directions at LM 8.6: SR50 is reduced to one lane for slide repairs. Automatic traffic signals are in place through the duration of the project. |
MARION COUNTY I-24 miscellaneous safety improvements from SR-156 (MM 161) to the Georgia State line (MM 167): Beginning August 19 and continuing through October 31st, the Contractor will be working on I24 East bound and West bound between the Tennessee Line in Hamilton County and Exit 161 in Marion County. The work will be conducted from Sunday night through Friday morning starting at 8PM Central and ending at 5AM Central Time each morning. The contractor will have intermittent lane closures throughout the night as they delineate the guardrail and install new signs. Estimated project completion date is October 2018. |
MARION COUNTY I-24 WB resurfacing from the Grundy County line (MM 127) to east of the bridge over Cave Cove Creek (MM 134): Weather permitting the contractor will continue the installation of the high friction surface treatment between the hours of 7PM to 6AM. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution. Law Enforcement and Safety Personnel will be present. Estimated project completion date is October 2018. |
MARION COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-24 westbound from MM 165.4 to MM 165.5: TDOT Floating Maintenance Crew will be milling a bump in the roadway from MM 165.4 to MM 165.5, westbound, one day only, from 6 PM 10/24/18 to 12 AM 10/25/18, allowing one lane open for traffic flow. MARION COUNTY SR-156 over Running Water Creek (LM 25.58) bridge rehabilitation: SR-156 is reduced to one lane across Running Water Creek Bridge and controlled with a temporary traffic signal while the bridge is repaired. Project completion date October 15th, 2019. Estimated project completion date is October 2019. |
WARREN COUNTY SR-288 construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Collins River (LM 4.97), including grading, drainage and paving: The bridge is currently reduced to one 12-ft. lane to allow the contractor to construct the new bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: Reduced to one 12-ft lane. |
WARREN COUNTY SR-8 over Collins River (LM 8.14) Bridge Repair: The bridge is currently reduced to one 11-ft. lane to allow the contractor to repair the existing bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: One 11-foot lane. Estimated project completion date is August 2019. |

HAMILTON COUNTY I-24 East and West drainage improvement from MM 173 to 175: The drainage improvement project at Exit 174 is underway. There will be lane closures along US-41 in the vicinity of the interchange. Ramps will remain open but could be subject to width and lane restrictions. Additionally, there will be a nighttime (9 PM to 6 AM) lane closure along I-24 EB on Sunday, Oct. 28th & Mon., Oct. 29th to support guardrail installation. Estimated project completion date is November 2018. |
HAMILTON COUNTY US-27 (I-124) widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge: The contractor will make a major traffic shift this weekend on U.S. 27 South as part of Phase 3 of the U.S. 27 reconstruction project in downtown Chattanooga. Weather permitting, the contractor will begin shifting traffic at 7:00 p.m. EDT on Friday evening, October 26, 2018. Once the contractor begins the shift, it will take 12 to 15 hours to get traffic in its final Phase 3 alignment on U.S. 27 South. If weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent this work from being done Friday evening, the contractor will do the work on Saturday when conditions are favorable. Traffic will be in its new pattern by Monday morning, October 29, 2018. Motorists are advised to avoid U.S. 27 South this weekend. Those who must travel on U.S. 27 South during this time period should be alert to changing conditions as the contractor moves traffic during the shift (including intermittent ramp closures to and from the downtown area) and changed conditions after the shift is complete. The new traffic pattern will result in traffic on U.S. 27 South being repositioned to the east side of the roadway between the I-24 interchange and the 4th Street interchange. This will let the contractor complete work on the outside lanes of the project on the southbound side of U.S. 27. The new traffic pattern will affect access to and from U.S. 27 South. The entrance ramp from W. Main Street to U.S. 27 South that provides quick access to I 24 will be closed to allow the removal and replacement of the ramp’s bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks. This closure can be expected to be in place for up to a year. Detour routes will be posted for traffic to use Williams Street to gain access to I-24 East/West. Another alternate to access I-24 is via U.S. 27 South from MLK Blvd. U.S. 27 South traffic will use a new exit between 4th Street and 6th Street to access MLK Blvd. Traffic from MLK Blvd. to U.S. 27 South will have access via an extended ramp that will merge onto U.S. 27 South just north of Main Street. This configuration is expected to remain in place through the better part of 2019 with some changes at 4th Street along the way. As part of this traffic change, minor updates to other ramps will occur. Please give this area your full attention and be alert to changing conditions in the work zone. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Estimated project completion date is January 2020. |
HAMILTON COUNTY TDOT Contractor on SR-58 (HWY. 58) both directions from LM 15.2 to LM 15.9: During this report period the contractor will be performing various safety improvements at the intersection of SR 58 & Birchwood Pike. This work may affect either direction of SR 58 & Birchwood Pike Monday thru Friday between 9 am & 3 pm. Flaggers will assist as needed. Estimated completion date is April 2019. HAMILTON COUNTY TDOT US-127 (SR-8) slope repair of Signal Mountain Blvd. at log mile 16.05: During this report period, the contractor will have one lane closed while performing slope stabilization operations. Temporary traffic signals are in place on either end of the project to control traffic. Additionally the speed limit has been lowered to 20 MPH in the construction zone. HAMILTON COUNTY SR-153 resurfacing from I-75 (LM 0.00) to Shallowford Road (LM 2.60), including bridge deck repair: This project will involve nightly lane closures to support the project activities. This will involve both NB & SB lane closures on SR-153 (Sunday - Thursday, 9 PM to 6 AM). Estimated project completion date is November 2018. |
HAMILTON COUNTY SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) grading, drainage, installation of signals, construction of seven retaining walls and paving from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road: During this report period, the contractor will have intermittent lane closures between 9AM-2PM. This work may affect either direction of East Brainerd Road or side streets from Graysville Road to Hamlet Drive. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is October 2018. |
HAMILTON COUNTY US-11/64 SR-2 (Brainerd Rd./Lee Hwy.) resurfacing from east of Moore Road (LM 13.85) to east of Airport Road (LM 15.84): The contractor has begun milling & paving operations and will have intermittent lane closures for resurfacing operations Sunday through Thursday from 8PM to 6AM. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is November 2018 |
MCMINN COUNTY SR-30, grading, drainage and paving on SR-30 from Jackson Street to east of Knight Road in Athens: Traffic along SR-30 through the project's length has been restricted to one lane in each direction with turning lanes provided at critical intersections and business access. This phase one construction activity has all traffic on the previous westbound side of SR-30. All businesses are provided with accessibility. Estimated project completion date is October 2019. |
MCMINN COUNTY SR-305 resurfacing from west of US-11 (SR-2) (LM 2.86) to west of I-75 (LM 5.00): The contractor will have a lane closed with flaggers directing traffic as they work. Traveling public is advised to be aware of the flaggers on the project. Estimated project completion date is November 2018. |
POLK COUNTY SR-30 resurfacing from US-411 (SR-33) (LM 2.65) to west of Tellico Reliance Road (LM 8.00): The contractor will have lane closures on this project during work. They will have pilot car directing traffic and also flaggers to help with traffic. They will be milling and paving during these lane closures. Estimated project completion date is November 2018. |
POLK COUNTY US-64 (SR-40) construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Branch and TOHA Old Line railroad (LM 24.85), including grading, drainage and paving: On Thursday of this reporting period, the contractor plans to shift traffic onto the new bridge on US64. Traffic is advised to be aware of the traffic shift. Estimated project completion date is May 2019. |
RHEA COUNTY SR-29 Improvement at Cawood Road (LM 27.3) including grading, drainage, and paving; resurfacing from south of Vanns Creek Road/Hoyal Road (LM 23.4) to north of Haskel Road (LM 25.3): Work continues on this project involving shoulder closures and slight lane reductions through the Cawood Rd. intersection (LM 27.3)on both SB & NB US 27. Additionally, there will be day time lane closure (Monday - Saturday) to support milling & paving activity through the project limits. Estimated project completion date is November 2018. |

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance drainage work: There will be possible short-term lane and shoulder closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to clean rock and debris from ditches on an as-needed basis. One lane will be maintained at all times. |
REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance mowing and brush removal: There will be possible short-term lane and shoulder closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to perform contract mowing and brush removal on an as-needed basis. In addition to performing the work, regional Operations crews will also provide traffic control. |
REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance pothole repair and pavement patching: There will be possible short-term emergency lane closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to repair potholes and patch pavement on an as-needed basis. Depending on location and severity these repairs may be done during the day or at night. In addition to performing the work, regional Operations crews will also provide traffic control. |
REGION 2 on-call cable barrier repair on various interstate and state routes: The contractor may have short term shoulder closures in order to perform cable rail repair. Both travel lanes will remain open to traffic at all times on the Interstate during any work that is performed. Estimated project completion date is December 2018. |
REGION 2 on-call guardrail repair and new guardrail installation on various interstate and state routes: The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform guardrail repair. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly from 7PM to 6AM Sundays through Thursdays and daily on State Routes. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times on the Interstate, and flaggers will be present on State Routes during any work that is performed. Estimated project completion date is June 2019. |
REGION 2 preventative and unscheduled maintenance of Chattanooga SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System: The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform preventative or unscheduled maintenance to the local SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System. Work hours are 9AM to 3:30PM. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is October 2019. |
REGION 2 sweeping and drain cleaning on various interstate and state routes: There will be mobile lane closures supporting a sweeping operation along regional interstates and highways through this reporting period. Additionally, there could be a drain cleaning operation requiring lane closures along I-40 in Putnam county ( MM 295 - MM 297). Both the sweeping & drain cleaning activities will happen Sunday - Thursday (8PM - 6AM). Estimated project completion date is February 2019. |
REGION 2 On-call concrete pavement repair: TDOT contract crews will make concrete repairs this weekend on I-75 North in Hamilton County near mile marker 8.2 between Exit 7 (Bonny Oaks Drive/Old Lee Hwy.) and Exit 9 (Volkswagen Drive). The area to be repaired is in lane #2, so the fast lane (lane #1) will also be closed during the work. The work will take place beginning at 8:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, October 26, 2018 and ending before 6:00 a.m. EDT on Monday, October 29, 2018. This work will consist of sawing and removing damaged concrete slabs and re-pouring them with new concrete, which will need several hours to harden enough to handle traffic. Two lanes will remain open to traffic during this work. As soon as the concrete hardens enough to pass strength tests, the lanes will be reopened to traffic. Drivers are urged to obey the signage and pay close attention to changing conditions in the work zone. Estimated project completion date is March 2019. |
REGION 2 the random on-call pavement marking and the retracing of pavement markings with spray thermoplastic on various Interstate and State Routes: The contractor will be installing pavement markings on I-24 in Hamilton County eastbound and westbound between MM 179.6 and 184.9. This will result in lane closures at night each direction. Motorists should be alert and pay attention to all construction signage. Estimated project completion date is June 2019. |
REGION 2 The relensing of snowplowable pavement markers on various Interstate and State Routes: The contractor will be having intermittent lane closures on I-24, I-75, and US29 in Hamilton, Bradley, and McMinn County starting on Monday of this reporting period. The work will start around 7 PM and last to 6 AM. This will be a moving operation with THP out on the project to help with traffic control. Estimated project completion date is November 2018. |
