The Tennessee Highway Patrol is accepting applications for the 2017 Spring Citizens’ Trooper Academy. Classes in Nashville start March 21st at The Tennessee Highway Patrol Training Center. Sessions are Tuesday nights and will run from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. weekly.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Colonel Tracy Trott today announced that Major Stacy Williams has been placed on discretionary leave and relieved of his official duties due to an incident that took place on Sunday, February 12 in Grundy County.
Forty two members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) returned home this past Saturday after assisting the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) during the 58th Inauguration of the President of the United States. Tennessee citizens with a valid handgun carry permit now have the option to upgrade to a lifetime permit for a lower cost. In 2016, the 109th General Assembly lowered the renewal fee on lifetime handgun carry permits from $500 to $200.

On Thursday, January 5, 2017, the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s (THP) Interdiction Plus Team (IPT) arrested William A. Holley, 31, of Fort Wayne, Indiana for drug trafficking. At the time of the traffic stop four children ranging from ages 5 to 10 years of age were in the vehicle.
