Under a new state law, the Tennessee General Assembly has waived state registration fees for Class A and Class B motor vehicles, for renewals after July 1, 2022 and before June 30, 2023. Read below for answers to commonly asked questions, and for links to a notice and press release for additional information.

No, the waiver is for vehicle registration renewals only, and it does not apply to newly registered vehicles.

 Yes.  The fee waiver is based on the type of vehicle (Class A or Class B).

No. The waiver goes through June, 2023, so you will have your fee waived when you renew next year.

No. The fee waiver will be based on the month of your actual registration expiration. You will get that discount when you renew in June 2023.
