On Thursday, Aug. 24, Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Jeff Long, Assistant Commissioner of Driver Services Michael Hogan, Rutherford County Mayor Joe Carr, and Rutherford County Clerk Lisa Duke Crowell held a ribbon cutting ceremony, celebrating the opening of the Bart Smith Building, which will house an additional Rutherford County Clerk’s Office and an Express Driver Services Center.

The lower county unemployment rates came during the same month Tennessee hit an all-time low statewide unemployment rate.

With Tennessee currently ranked among the top five states within the U.S. in recognition to the Project SEARCH graduation outcome, securing a 97% post-graduation employment rate with wages at a minimum of $12/hour and working an average of 26+ hours/week, the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) Division of Rehabilitation Services today announced ongoing opportunities for employers and students to participate in the nationally acclaimed Project SEARCH model, which offers transition services to high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to help them into employment through hands-on training and internships. TDHS Rehabilitation Services is diligently working to increase the reach of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services and connect more Tennesseans with disabilities to employment and educational opportunities by forging new community partnerships.

NASHVILLE--Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Greg Gonzales announced today that the maximum effective formula rate of interest in Tennessee is 12.50 percent per annum. The rate is based on a ceiling of 4 percent over the weekly average prime loan rate of 8.50 percent as published by the Federal Reserve on August 21, 2023.

NASHVILLE – Tennessee made history in July when the state recorded its lowest unemployment rate since the federal government began tracking the statistic in 1976. According to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD), the seasonally adjusted rate of 3.1% was 0.1 of a percentage point lower than the previous all-time low of 3.2%, a figure the state once again reached in June.
