  • Tennessee Highway Patrol Saves Man From Jumping Off Nashville Bridge

    On Feb. 28, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Capitol Protection Unit (CPU) was made aware of a man standing along the outer edge of the James Robertson Parkway bridge, threatening to jump off the bridge to the street below. Sergeants Denney Mitchell and Adam Simpkins from the THP's CPU received the notification of the man and immediately responded from the State Capitol building on Martin Luther King Boulevard.

  • Coffee County Joins Tennessee Advanced Communications Network

    Today, the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security welcomed Coffee County to the Tennessee Advanced Communications Network (TACN). Coffee County’s decision to join TACN provides first responders the ability to have additional coverage to talk on the radio with surrounding state communication towers during major events and disasters.

  • Savannah Driver Services Center to Close; Newly Constructed Savannah Driver Services Center to Open

    The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will permanently close the Savannah Driver Services Center, located at 60 Brazelton Street, unit #10 in Savannah, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. A newly constructed Driver Services Center located at 1016 Pickwick Street in Savannah will open on Monday, March 6, 2023.

  • TACN Partners with Vanderbilt University Medical Center as it Expands Service to Tennessee Hospital Systems

Ross II as Adjutant General of Tennessee and Commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Military, effective January 21, 2023.   • West Knox Driver Services Center to close; New Gore Road Driver Services Center to Open

    KNOXVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will permanently close the West Knox Driver Services Center, located at 430 Montbrook Lane in Knoxville, at 5:00 p.m. September 14. A new Driver Services Center located at 209 Gore Road SW in Knoxville will open on September 19. Regular business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
