Maryville Native Graduates from Military Police School
SMYRNA, Tenn. – Oneida’s Detachment 1 of the 252nd Military Police Company welcomed its newest Military Police Officer, Sgt. Kristopher Osborne, to its team and the U.S. Army Military Police Corps.
Osborne, a Maryville native and 11-year member of the Tennessee National Guard, graduated from the Tennessee Army National Guard’s Military Police Basic Course held at Smyrna’s Volunteer Training Site, March 21. During the 4-week-long transition course, he trained in various law enforcement skills, tactics, and tasks to certify as a U.S. Army Military Policeman.
“Serving in the MP Corps is something I’ve always wanted to do and have been looking forward to for a long time,” said Osborne. “I’ve worked alongside MPs for years and I’m thankful that I now get to do the same missions.”
Prior to attending the course, Osborne was a combat medic and an administrative specialist who was recently assigned as the Detachment Readiness Non-Commissioned Officer for the 252nd Military Police Company’s detachment in Oneida. In this new role, he is responsible for maintaining the unit’s overall readiness by managing training schedules, mobilization planning, logistical support, and personnel actions as well as being one of the unit’s Military Policemen.
As one of the fulltime Guardsmen at the Oneida National Guard Armory, Osborne says he is committed to continuing his development as a leader and helping Soldiers become better.
“I want to continue improving myself through education and professional development,” said Osborne. “I also enjoy working for and assisting Soldiers who truly care about being in the National Guard. I want to help them overcome any obstacles they face.”
