Jefferson City Guardsman Promoted to Staff Sergeant

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sgt. George Brimer, a Jefferson City resident and intelligence analyst with the Tennessee National Guard, was promoted to the rank of staff sergeant during a ceremony held in Kuwait on Dec. 20, 2024, while deployed to the Middle East with the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment in support of Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve.

“This promotion stands as a testament to your perseverance and potential as a leader,” said Capt. Jason Sieber, Brimer’s Senior Intelligence Officer who presided over the ceremony. “Remember, as a new military intelligence noncommissioned officer, your inexperience doesn’t define you - your willingness to foster collaboration, adapt, empower, and lead by example does.”

As an intelligence analyst, Brimer provides the Army with essential and accurate information about enemy forces and potential areas of conflict. His duties include producing intelligence products, reports, and briefings to support commanders’ decision-making.

Brimer joined the National Guard to continue his family’s legacy of military service. His grandfather served in World War II and Korea, and his father served in the Gulf War.

He is assigned to 2nd Squadron, 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Task Force Reaper. He has been a military member for 13 years and served as a combat medic, intelligence analyst, and electromagnetic warfare specialist. Some of his previous deployments include a tour in Iraq from 2006-2007 and another in Afghanistan in 2009.

Brimer holds a bachelor’s degree in intelligence management from Henley-Putnam University.
