Tennessee National Guard deploys for Saber Strike

Soldiers and Airmen with the Tennessee Army and Air National Guard departed from the Volunteer Training Site in Smyrna, Tenn., on June 9 for annual training that is taking place in Poland as part of Operation Saber Strike. A C-17 from the Memphis-based 164th Airlift Wing was loaded with equipment and personnel from Tennessee’s 1-181st Field Artillery, and the 118th Wing and 134th Air Refueling Wing Security Forces Squadrons. Saber Strike is a long-standing U.S. Army Europe-led cooperative training exercise that helps facilitate cooperation amongst the U.S., Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and allied and partner nations.

 

A M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) vehicle from the Tennessee Army National Guard's 1-181st Field Artillery is loaded into a C-17 from the Tennessee Air National Guard's 164th Airlift Wing on June 9, headed for annual training that is taking place in Poland as part of Operation Saber Strike.
