Colonel Keith Scott is assigned as the Chief of Staff for the Joint Force Headquarters Tennessee Army National Guard since March 2019.
COL Keith Scott enlisted in the Tennessee Army National Guard as a SMP cadet in 1989 and subsequently earned his commission as an Armor Officer in 1990 through the ROTC program at Middle Tennessee State University. He has served in various staff and leadership assignments in the TNARNG. His previous assignments include: Armor Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, Company D 3/109th Armor Battalion, Detachment Commander (XO), Troop K 3/278 Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), Support Platoon Leader, HHT 3/278th ACR, Assistant Professor of Military Science, Tennessee Technological University ROTC Program, S1 3/278th ACR, Commander, Troop I 3/278th ACR, Assistant S-3 3/278th ACR, Squadron S3 and Executive Officer, HHT 2/278th ACR, Regimental S3 and Executive Officer, HHT 278th ACR, Commander, Counterdrug Task Force, Deputy Chief of Staff Operations (G3). COL Scott has deployed twice with the 278th ACR (2004-2005) & (2009-2010) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
COL Scott earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Finance from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master’s of Science in Organizational Leadership from Columbia Southern University. He is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College Intermediate Level Education, Combined Arms Services and Staff School, and the Armor Officer Advanced and Basic Courses, Fort Knox, Kentucky.
COL Scott has received multiple awards and decorations for his military service. Awards include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal 2nd Award (Service Star), Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral 2, Overseas Training Ribbon, Tennessee Distinguished Service Medal, Tennessee War Service Ribbon, Tennessee Distinguished Unit Commendation, Louisiana Cross of Merit, Combat Action Badge, and Order of Saint George.
He is married to Leslie Ivey Scott and they have two daughters, Aubrey Rae and Hallie Marie.
