What Will Happen

During the hearing, the Board of Appeals will review information related to the employee’s appeal. The employee and the department may present relevant information and respond to questions from the Board. The Board will review the appeal and make a decision based on state rules, policies, and applicable law.

A decision may not be issued on the same day as the hearing.

Public Attendance

Board of Appeals hearings are generally open to the public. Members of the public may attend to observe the hearing; however, participation is limited to the employee and the department involved in the appeal. Portions of the hearing may be closed if confidential or protected information must be discussed, as permitted by law.
