Tennessee's Credit Rating Now at the Top

Tennessee's credit rating is now the highest awarded by all three of the major credit rating agencies. The latest revision came from Standard and Poor (S&P), when the rating was upgraded from AA+ to AAA, with an outlook of "stable." The state's rating with both Fitch and Moody's has been at AAA for several years.

"The upgrade reflects our view of the state's strengthening economy, growing reserves, positive year-to-date performance, and continuous sound management of its long-term liabilities," said S&P Global Ratings analyst Carol Spain in a release.  For more information, view the press release from S&P.
